Feedback! Cant decide between BlackBerry torch and Iphone

Hello, I would like to have your opinion on to what sort of cellphone you recommend. My contract has ended and its time I move onto the modern cellphones. I have talked to my cellphone company and they are offering an ok monthly deal.

I am torn between the blackberry torch and the 16GB 4g Iphone

Later on after I buy a cellphone I want to be able to have my phone connect to a tablet like the blackberry tablet or Ipad. I would be using the tables like sort of a laptop during school or during long trips.

Here are my factors.

Iphone-Ipad

Pros: Easy way to store music, apps, touch screen

Cons: No actual button interface

Blackberry-tablet

Pros: An actual button interface and touchscreen, good image quality, canadian company

Cons: Poor memory, not as easy to manage music?

Correct me if im wrong here guys.

Any feedback appreciated.

I'll vote Blackberry Torch although I've owned neither. That's just my impression from seeing them.

I would honestly recommend getting any Android phone over either. Far more powerful, and thousands of times more customizable.

i work for BlackBerry(tech support) and can honestly say that every BlackBerry "smartphone" is really just a feature phone with social networking applications, i hate Apple products but if i where you i would buy the Iphone unless your really interested in the Security the Torch has, which is of course the best. As for the Playbook which is the product i actually support, its a nightmare of bugs and missing features with less then a hundred actual usable applications to download from AppWorld at the moment. The only good thing it has going for it is the inclusion of a Android player which will allow you to download Android applications to the tablet

My sister has a Blackberry & it's not too impressive, a iPhone would be better but I think you should
see about an Android phone, not tried it but it's a good way of avoiding Apple in the area where it excels |:P

I have a friend who has one of the HTC desire and says it's great. A very good option if you want to avoid the iPhone.

Out of the two an iPhone is much better.

I have a 3GS, and despite a few irritations I think it is a great phone. Build quality of iPhones - particularly the iPhone 4's is better than anything else on the Market. Customer service/support is also decent, particularly if you have an apple store nearby. The other big advantage an iPhone has over blackburys is in terms of the wider ecosystem. There are so many apps and games available for iPhone/ ipAd, blackbury can't match that at the moment.

With regard to tablets, the iPad 2, seems to be considered the best out there at the moment, both from a functionality and value point of view.

As has been mentioned It may be worth considering an android phone. E.g htc desire z is touchscreen but has a flip out keyboard. Motorola have a similar phone. Personally I quickly got used to the touch interface and think I would find a keyboard slower. I will probably give android a go for my next phone, just because there is more variety - I want a phone with a bigger screen.

I had this decision a few months ago with my first paycheck. A new phone... Blackberry, or iPhone?

I'm 6"2 and I have hands of Mike Tyson - I have since I was born. Ergo, the Blackberry's mm-wide buttons were no use to me. So, I went for the iPhone. I then had the choice of 3GS or the new iPhone 4.
Why pay £100 more for something that is just a minor upgrade, as far as I can tell? 3GS it was, at £350.

Now, things I love about the iPhone, are its ease of use and multitaskability.

I can organize my icons on my homescreen (I actually have 5 homescreens, that I use like categorized folders), I can add fields for contacts, I can download apps that give me all sorts of goodness and time-wasting usefulness.
If I'm writing down notes in the Note...thing... and I want some information... Press the middle button to minimize, go to Safari. Google, found, middle button, reopen Note, back to where I was.

iPhone is just so easy to use. It's quick, it's swift, it's smooth, it's jolly goodness.

One of my favourite little things about it, is when you take a picture, it shows on the "map" part of the Photos where it was taken. I work all over England, so it's pretty neat. If I want to "bookmark" a location, per example, of a decent restaurant... Snap! Picture taken, location saved. Nice and easy.

Now, for the pet hates...
If I buy music through them, which I do (Quick, easy, cheap. Direct to my phone, able to then access and download to my iTunes), then that music is mine. I have bought it. I shouldn't need to buy a "ringtone" version, just to use it as a ringtone - at that rate, I'm spending *2 as much as I need to on music!

There's also the battery drain. Boy, you better turn your screen brightness to less than 10% so you can only just see it, or your battery goes down at %1-3 a minute. That's less than two hours of active use.
If you work around the country for 10+ hours a day, like I do, then you're screwed. However, I recently bought a car-plug in charger for my iPhone, so that's not really a problem any more.

Thirdly, the memory. It's not bad. However, they told me in the shop I can store music on it, store photos on it, and all this jazz. However, it's only 6gb of memory! (Or was it 60?), with no memory SD Card slot either (That I can see).
Either way, I can only keep a tenth of my favourite music on it now, if I want space for "Holy

, must take a pic of that now!" pictures whilst driving. Which happens alot.

As for BlackBerry? I've only heard of sad stories about it. Small buttons. Crashes. Pushed Development. Sticky Keys. Messages wiped if it shutdowns. etc.

One thing I can say about the iPhone is, it's like a big warm welcome hug into the world of Touch Screen. Was my first touch screen experience, and now I'm a pro at texting whilst touch-screening. I can whack out a message as if I'm on a small keyboard.

In fact, I was working with my buddy the other week in a hired car. It had an interface in the central unit with a built in SatNav. I attempted to set a location, using the screen. I was then informed I had to use the buttons and knobs on it, and I hadn't a clue!

I am, by the way, only 21. I'm not some ...well, older gentlemen.

I know my way around a PC and all. Was a culture shock, per se.
