    Default Diplomacy

I started my first campaign as Parthia and after some turns i prepared my troops to attack Armenia at Seleucia, the armenians were my allies,no matter that i attacked and the next turn i was again allied to them without accepting any ceasefire.I attacked again and the next turn the same thing happened, and so for the next 5-6 turns i couldn't actualy go to war with armenia .Is it some sort of a bug or i have to do something not to be constantly allied to them ??

It's no bug the game is designed to be played as the romans and all other factions are scripted so that they won't attack each other. This is to prevent a super faction to arise. You will notice that when you play with Romans that every one is at war with you.

Yea, and why is everybody at war with the Romans? I thought this mod is designed to be historically accurate. Well I am a Historian and I know that Rome was never at war with everybody at the same time

This mod isn't about being 100% historically accurate, it's about giving the player a good challenge. Unfortunately the RTW engine has its limits aswell, and diplomacy is something that is impossible to fix. Right now you are at war with all, but notice that not all are aggressive towards you unless you cross their borders. Also, there are a few factions (Gaul, Germania, Carthage, Greece, not sure if there are more) that are actively aggressive and will seek out to destroy you as soon as you have a border towards them. Sometimes even through sea invasions. This has also been balanced to give the player a challenge, without the AI factions wiping eachother out. I remember in old versions of SPQR, by the time you achieved supremacy in Italy, the major part of the map had already been conquered by the Greeks and the major part of the game was about fighting them.
As it is now, you get a good balance between fighting lots of different factions.

Thank u, Ejergard for your quick response, When I first started playing on this mod with Rome(of course , I noticed that Gaul, Greece and Germania are extremely aggressive towards me and I hadn't done anything to them, yet . If what u say is true, that only they are aggressive that's ok with me, I thought that every Faction will send their armies towards me and in that situation even with cheats would be impossible for one to win: Rome vs THE WHOLE WORLD. By the way I pushed the Gauls back across the Alps and now I have a border with Germany and they started attacking constantly, I sent 3 legions and destroyed their armies, but didn't want to conquer their cities, yet so I pulled my legions south to fight Carthage in Africa and Spain. And the Germans, rebuild their armies in 2 turns and invaded me again, I offered a truce with bribes and stuff, but nothing worked, I realised that they were going to keep attacking me and I didn't want to loose my Alps provinces so I conquered one German province and pulled out all troops so in the next turn the province rebelled and now this rebel province stands between the Germans and me. And they stopped attacking me. So, if any one wishes to know how to stop the aggressors(Gaul, Germany, Greece), creating a buffer rebel region between u and them is a good idea.

It can never be IMPOSSIBLE to win, just use the "create_unit" "add_money" and "auto_win" cheats.

Auto_win can affect the game, and can prevent Marius Reforms from occuring, even if the requirments are reached. Just throwing that out there

I personally held the settlements and then placed several forts north of each town to protect the cities. Troops and generals were rotated frequently. Choose your terrain wisely. Let the barbarians march uphill exhausted while being rained on with missile fire to meet you. There is no need to create a buffer settlement. Now show the Gauls and German barbarians who is boss.

A good solution is to conquer towns which border the Germans and Gauls, and then leave them to revolt and become Roman rebels.
Even then try to make alliances with rebels romans they generally accept the principle.
They became states "stoppers" because the barbarians do not attack them and you're free for a long time of their attacks.
Rome had the states "stoppers" that is also historically correct.
The other good thing is that these cities of the Roman rebels were already Romanized and all the buildings that you do not need to build, when you conquer them.

So is there a way to play a normal campaign with other factions except romans?? to play with parthia o egypt etc.. and to have ally and enemy the other factions.. like in vanilla o in other mods...o like in the old versions of this mod.....
if not, this is a big mistake.
by the way i love the 8.0 map and the new units
but please fix the diplomacy .....i changed the diplomacy in decr_strat but nothing changed, i was ally with the others.....

Search for the term superfaction in decr_strat and delete the entire lines m8, but the game is ONLY designed to play the Romans, but enjoy anyhow.

also, don't play with the script. there is one that forces certain factions to make peace with each other. - though i'm not sure if this matters or not if your playing as an eastern nation,
