I want to be happy, but I know I shouldn't because that is usually not good, unless he was still in power. Let's just say, the world now has one less genocidal maniac in it...

While I'm certainly no fanboy of this guy, he was being judged for what he has done and had been removed from power for several years now so in my opinion there is no necessity for joy either as he was not a megalomaniac threat to anyone anymore but just a criminal to see justice.Originally Posted by Farnan
The reason why I'm opposed to the "Let's just say, the world now has one less genocidal maniac in it..." sentence is because it kind of imply he was the only guy responsible for the atrocities he was accused of which is a far too easy way out for anyone else with a bad conscious. Was it not down to the Serbian militias who obviously were not willing or capable to stand up to this inhumanity, was it not down to each and any western citizen and statesmen that the west did not intervene with stronger conviction to prevent these events? In my eyes the crimes of one man can very well be the failure of many, from underlings to bystanders, not something I intend to blame anyone on but something I hope will remain in the conscious of the people for the next time something similar happens.
And the bad thing is the events in Bosnia were only so wellcovered because they took place in the Europe's backyard, I still don't know much about what is really going on in countries from Sudan to the Congo.
I know he wasn't the only one, but he was one, thus they're may be 5,000 genocidal maniacs in the Serbian army, but his death means there are now 4,999...Originally Posted by Mangalore
I agree also, that many are responsible in Serbia and the West for what happened. I agree that standing by why such events happen is immoral.

He won't be judged by the court, that is true, but he will not escape judgement from God.
If anything this gives the Serbian people a bit of a fresh start, as well as the chance for victims to wipe the slate clear.

Legiondude,I was speaking about pure facts, numbers of high officials on the trial of all sides compared with situation on the ground but you posted another full page of blah, blah talk. Yes, you are right that there were bad guys in the war on all sides, but only Serbian bad guys are on the trial. You said you regret seeing Main Square in Sarajevo named by Alija Izetbegovic which is great thing becuse there are some people in Sarajevo thinking like you. However, I have never seen any protest from Bosnian Muslims, just euphoria and wish to name international airport by his name. All that talk about peace, regrets blah, blah...is just blah, blah after that.
Yes, I was in Sarajevo before the war, but why should I? You cannot read simple statistical data without counting people by yourself? I simply cannot stand that Bosnian Muslims are still exaggerating victims, like CNN TV show is going on forever
You said 100 000 Bosnian Muslims were killed? Nice round number for propaganda reasons but OFFICAL number of killed in Bosnia in all sides together is 93 000, presented by Mirsad Tokaca (Bosnian Muslim) from Research and Documentation Center, Sarajevo.
PS. You have merged now tree tread but still do not have basic knowledge from math. Where have you found that city of Nish had 400 000 people? Again, pure facts just taken from web page of Statistic biro of Serbia .Municipality of Nis 1991. Census- 230 488, meaning that city itself had no more than 170 000, of which no more than 150 000 Serbs. So, again Sarajevo was FAR biggest Serbian city after Belgrade.

This is bad, he can never be brought to justice for all his crimes now. The peoples of the Former Yugoslavia who were murdered and suffered under him will never have justice. But it is good that there is one less genocidal maniac in this world....
dead..yeah sure!!someone suicided him..and you know what i mean..and something tells me that they 'll do the same with Sadam

How terribly uneventful. I expected more of a bang, to be honest.
The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.
