Default Artifacts or glitch with game engine

So got my GTX 580 and Overclocked it to 900/4400 at 1.1v. Stable through 2 hours of Metro 2033 play and an hour of the heaven benchmark. However i did notice that i was getting a strange glitch only in The Witcher 2. On the side of the screen where a character model meets the edge there are weird spots that show up. IDK if this is an artifact or not but I did see it on other characters and not just on this dwarf. Here is a picture showing the artifact if i should call it that. Also if you could check in your own game to see if this occurs that would be very helpful.

I did set my clocks back to stock to see if they were present and they were, but that could mean very many things. Like me damaging my card by overclocking it but I haven't done major overclocks with it highest i went was 920 core clock at 1.1v and I've had my memory at 4400 MHz for the past couple times i've overclocked this card.

Anyways any input would be great.

Also the dots move along with the character so.... I dont know. Help would be greatly appreciated though..

looks fine to me Witcher 2 driver support from both GPU camps is a bit wonky just yet same as it was with Dragon Age 2 when it came out,

Id suggest simply running a few more games and keep your eyes open, most common artifacts is fuzzy white snow, and pink dots,

Yea thats what i was thinking too since it would show up on several characters. The dots were just bigger on the dwarf because the camera was next to his face. To be safe though i lowered my Memory clock down to 4300 MHz. I've heard that overclocking the memory for GTX 570s and 580s can be a little bit dangerous. Clocked speeds are now 900/1800/4300. Still good overclocks. Not great since i had to increase my voltage to get to 900 core but what can you do.. It's always hit or miss with computer parts. I also love the fact that EVGA will RMA cards that have been fried due to overclocking so I am not worried about tampering with the card. Got my 6870 to hold me over till i get my 580 back if i ever need to RMA it.

EDIT: i also forgot to mention that i tried running heaven for 3 hours while i was gone but when i came back it had crashed which also prompted me to lower my memory clock since i know my 900 core is stable and i would like to keep it at that. At least i hope. Gonna do another 2 hour test with the unigine heaven benchmark.

yea probably just the memory overclock being a bit higher then it should be memory is far more touchy then the core when it comes to overclocks.

yea lowered again down to 4250. I don't really see any drop in performance by lowering my memory clock so its ok. I also ran into black spots that moved with object models in Crysis Warhead BUT i also ran into those with my 6870 in the first crysis. That was fixed by updating my drivers. Lowered back to stable clocks and spots were still there so it confirmed that they were either driver problems or poorly optimized engine which crysis is.. haha

At least thats what I'm assuming. haha

i suggest running 3dmark 11, 3dmark vantage and loop it watch for artifacts, if that passes, then if you have it run GTA IV or Battlefield Bad Company 2, both of those games are extremely sensitive to both CPU and GPU overclocks, example

gpus stable at 1050core in furmark and cpu stable at 4.2 in prime, occt, linx, ibt etc but try running BC2 and the game will crash or hang, same with GTA IV, drop back to 4ghz 1000mhz core on the gpus all is well, both games have proven to be great at finding weakspots in overclocks.

i've run several loops of 3dmark 11 but not vantage. Perfectly fine. I also played some BC2 no artifacts or anything. Was also able to loop unigine heaven for 2 hours no crashing and I watched it for 20 minutes seeing no odd flashes or color changes which can show overclock instability. I doubt the artifacts in crysis warhead are anything major because i also went back to stock settings and those same black spots were still there. Like i said, similar spots showed up on my 6870 on the aircraft carrier at the end of the first crysis and those were fixed by updating my drivers.

yea sounds like everythings good to go and yea crysis 1 is buggy as hell never did finish that game the final levels for many people are incomplete and tend to crash most of the time.
