    Default 572 AUC Crash

Hi guys, im having a problem with the game crashing. I am still using 2.0 version. In 572 AUC after i hit end turn the game crashes. I have tried to load a previous save but still when i reach 572 AUC again and hit end turn the game crashes. I noticed the crash occured when some of my units moved after i hit end turn so i stopped this units' from moving. But now the crash just comes straight after i hit end turn, i dont get to see any of the other factions' movement.

I noticed that some people had the same problem and it was suggested that it is due to character cloning. Macedon might have emergency levies as they are close to being defeated so that might be where the cloning occurs. I tryed to disable FOV but for some reason the console doesn't come down when i press ~. Another solution people suggested was moving the installation from Program Files but i never install games there anyway.

Any ideeas if this can be fixed? Or should i get the latest patch and start all over

Try the key under the escape key, that comes up with ¬ when you press it with shift. (unless that is the key you tried )

The only way to see whats causing it is to turn off FOW, and see which unit does what when the game crashes. Two possibilities are that with FOW off the unit can see everything and might move somewhere else, OR if it doesn't, there is a teleport command, move a stack over there and kill that particular army (i don't have a clue of the command im afraid).

If those dont work, theres very little you can do, except start again or go back to an older save.

Thanks for the advice, lef you some rep. The problem is i can't bring the console down, i tried that too. I read somewhere that it's a problem with Windows 7 or Vista.

Anyway I managed to fix the problem in the end. I'd given up so installed the 2.1a patch, just out of curiosity i loaded my old save game and guess what: it worked and didn't crash anymore!

I use Windows 7 and in the past I've used Vista. With both of these OSs I've not had a problem with the console.

Sometimes it's necessary to 'bind' a different key to that function.

The following was found by someone else a long time ago and I took a copy:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Steps:
    1. You need to have editing rights in your account.
    2. Right click RTW shortcut and click "Open File Location"
    3. Go to "Data"
    4. Go to "text"
    5. Go to "descr_shortcuts"
    6. Find the Line "show_console"
    7. It should be like: show_console GRAVE_ACCENT hidden
    -Delete the "hidden" part
    -Save It
    8. Start RTW
    9. Go to Option, Go to Miscellaneous, and click on "Reset Default Keys"
    10. Now look closely for "SHOW DEBUG CONSOLE"
    11. Double click it and edit it to whatever other key you want, i went with F1

I take no credit because i was not the one who found this out.

By the way you can't play online after ths so it would be wise to save your original file before this.
