    Default 6.4 ctd during battles

I did a clean install of MTW2 --> Kingdoms --> 1.5 --> SS 6.3 --> SS6.4. The mod will load properly but whenever I try to enter a battle on the campaign map my game crashes.

I don't know how to make a system log but here is the text that shows up when the game crashes:

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

I think this has something to do with Kingdoms but I'm not sure. Can anyone help? I am using Vista 64 bit.

The "system log" file is a .txt file located in your SS6 installation folder.

You should also be able to access it from the stainless steel start menu shortcut folder

I found the system log, it's 21 MB. Should I even both copying and pasting it here?

Yes, zip/rar it and attach it. Just like it says in the Bug Reports for 6.4 topic

If you have a CTD (crash to desktop) problem, create a new thread in this sub-forum.
    Information to include:

    • when is the CTD happening (turn number, who's turn, which era)
    • attach your zipped/rared system.log (can be found in start menu -> stainless steel -> error log)
    • optionally you can attach the save game file.

Most importantly, if you encounted a CTD or CTM(crash to menu) on faction selection and you just installed 6.4, this is most probably an UAC\VirtualStore Problem.
The release thread has a solution to this, another way would be to install 6.3 in a different folder outside Program Files, and install 6.4 on it. Due to the nature of the launcher this solution will work.

That is... bad. What happened to the 21mb system.log?

Looks like I attached the wrong one. This is the one that was in my 6.3 folder.

What do I do to fix it?

Same problem for me. I got tired of trying to fix it and got back to playing 6.3 version.

As the info quoted install 6.3 in a different folder outside Program Files, and install 6.4 on it. Else try the solution in the release topic.

I have all the SEGA file installed outside Program Files already.

I tried doing this (and disabled the UAC according to the release thread) and it still doesn't work. Now it doesn't even allow me to access the campaign map. Whenever I select a faction and start a new campaign, it crashes after a few seconds.

What's the correct procedure for installing this mod then? I downloaded MTW2 --> Kingdoms -- > Kingdoms patch ---> SS 6.3 (in a folder outside program files) --> SS 6.4 (in the same folder as 6.3).

And to correct my initial post, I am running Windows 7 64 bit, not Vista.

Also, when I load SS the loading screen says 6.3 not 6.4. Does this mean I installed 6.4 incorrectly?

    Thanks again.

Patch with 6.4 again, doublecheck your 6.4 install path. Note that the installer may add another SS6.3 to the target location after you change it manually.

also right click the .exe files and run them as administrator or alot of times it won't be able to overwrite the 6.3 files correctly.
