    Default The best- by far

To all the guys at EB.

This mod is amazing and its not complete yet. I've been playing for a week now as the romans and thoroughly enjoying it. I've reached the year 197 and am just wondering if you have managed to script a more accurate timeline for the Marian Reforms or wether it is as it was for vanilla - requiring a Imp. Palace in an Italian mainland province?? I'm persevering with the romans in order to get a look at the new legion units and want to see how they handle against the much tougher units you have provided for the other factions.

Great units by the way - I'm really pleased that the Celtic factions have some decent base units instead of those crappy warbands in vanilla. Gesatea are rock hard. I lost a 12 stack army to just five of these nutters. (My army was quite inexperienced but was well led - a 2 star general).

I love the complexity of the trait system and the surprise elements you have incorparated - such as Reformata trait which let me build Libyan spearmen for the roman army.

I have one constructive criticism - the boring trait. It really is boring. The first few times is ok but when it starts happening every turn because you have a dozen or more cities it gets very frustrating having to walk your governor around simply to get rid of this trait and the penalties.
For the sake of gameplay will you consider dropping this trait? Does anyone else find this a pain??

The bonus/penalty system is very good. It might need tweaking slighlty to help the player with foreign conquests far from the capital.

As this is a beta I will wait to see what adjustments you make.

Please keep up the good work on what is IMO the best RTW mod - by far.

    Much appreciated.

    One other point of note.

Because of the expensive cost of all the units the AI appears to be building losts of cheap missile unit armies. I came up against three stacks of Ptolemaoi in the middle east that were composed entirely of archers/slingers/javelinmen.

Has anyone else found this same problem.

I agree, this is easily the best mod ever IMO. And the boring trait does get a little anoying. I wouldn't think being the highest official in a city would give you time to be bored.

And about the missle unit thing- I don't think I've seen much of that, yet at least. In my campaigns, I focus more on romanizing the barbarians to the north and walking down the halls of the parthanon in the Hellenes. Haven't seen to much of the Middle East. And I definetally haven't seen any full stacks of missle units. Could just be my camgaign but most of what I've seen is sword and spear based units with supporting cavalry.

For a beta this is better than some finished mods that I will not name. BUT it still needs work. Hopefully with the 1.5 porting and some additional AI formation tweaking it will be the 100% better.

AI in 1.2 still can't keep a formation. I am playing Koinon Hellenon campaign on H/H and I just decimated the Macedonians as they kept sending skirmishers and 1 unit at a time straight into my wall of spears.

Now if I can combine this with Darth's mod and 1.5 it will be a dream. When it comes to battlefield dynamics and gameplay Darth is the undisputed king.

Never tried Darthmod. What does it do exactly?

In darth mod the lines are cohesive and stay together longer through various formation tweaks and stat changes. Battles seem more chaotic and the generals less suicidal, plus the AI constatly tries to outflank. It is a thing of beauty to see the AI march towards you in order and keeping their lines together instead of spreading all over the place.

In EB from my experiences this far the enemy sends in a few units at a time and I eat them up with ease. In my current Hellenic campaign I have created a monster of an army by singlehandedly defeating the Macs with the same stack led by my faction leader. Also if you notice in EB the enemy general is still suicidal but harder to kill. Just the other day the Mac 6 star general charged right into my spears head on.

Talk about those generals! They are almost invincable! I charged a general with 2 Equites and my own General and on the other side with three triarii. The rest of his entire army wasn't as hard to kill as this general.
