    Default Overwhelmed!

Hello all, so I stated playing this mod and I dont even know wherre to begin! First off, there are like 100 settlements...If I put them on automanage will they be okay or do I need to micro manage each and every settlement? also, I have always sucked at economy in this game, I dont know weather or not to raise or lower my taxes, what to build, or If i should even build anything and focus on troops? Also since there are SO many cities I dont know what or where is the best to focus on...Is there some sort of walkthrough for this mod? If not there should be because it is really overwhelming...This is my favorite Roman time period but the downfall is that this is when they controlled the most land...now I can REALLY see why the Empire fell...hah

If you find the 361AD campaign overwhelming you can always play the 355AD or 365AD campaigns where you have a choice of different roman factions with smaller areas of the empire to control.

Just go to the campaigns folder which is within the options folder and install.

I'd save the 361 campaign until you've got the hang of the smaller ones.

Personally for me Procopius 365 AD is one of the easier campaigns to get going on. You can start earning money from early on so you can have access to some pretty decent troops via Constantinople and Sarmatian cavalry in the northern Thrace settlements so if you ever run into the Quaddi you have half a chance to fight back against their Sarmatian horsemen. You also have reasonably content cities so you dont have to do unreal amounts of micromanaging religious discontent and you can knock out an Eastern Roman settlement (Sirmium?) to the north west of Procopius' holdings and a couple of settlements along the Dalmatian coast to start with and earn a good financial base to begin with.

Agree with previous replies. Definietely go with 365 campaign either as Procopius or Valens. Its much easier, you have more money, face less invasions and more content cities. As with everything else i would suggest u manage the cities yourself focusing on money making buildings like farms, roads, ports, traders etc. Lower taxes only in cities you face rebellions (red face) and increase in ones that r stable but constantly keep an eye everywhere. As far as fighting Sassanids i tend to jam em during city sieges and slaugher them at town square where their cavalry is inefective. Of course to do that you need right kind of troops, mostly spearmen but also some comitatensis and palatine troops will do the work. If you play as Valens you will notice that u have perfect sassanid killers in antioch, those palatine units r truly amazing especially when equipped through fabrica aramturae and with some gold cheverons.
