    ??????

Just go into processes and terminate process. Or you can just restart your pc.

the keyboard was locked up so i couldn't do anything at all. i ejected the disk in the end. figured that was safest bet. anyway its sorted, thanks

its memtest its a boot time app

right at the bottom of the screen there should be a list of F key functions that let you do various things

minimum you want 5 full passes
you will see below towards the bottom of the screenshot it shows 7 passes completed you again want minimum 5 passes

if the keyboard has locked up unplug the USB keyboard and plug it into a different port, and just press ESC, if that dosent work use a PS/2 keyboard aka the old round port if you dont have one of those just shut down the PC, by holding the power button or reset button and eject the Memtest disc or remove the USB memtest stick.
