Default Question on replacing old portraits in bc2.02

Hi, i'm trying to replace all North, South European & Greek old portraits with my new onse in BC 2.02 but i'm stuck & can't succeed . So far i succeeded on Vanilla M2TW & Stainless Steel 6.3, (even on Invasio Barbarorum 7) i replaced all Byzantine & NE portraits cos i got sick of plate armored portraits on either early European, Crusader & Byzantine campaigns & now they look great but it seems on BC2.02 i can't succeed at all I tried by putting my new onse in their respective folders M2TW/bc/data/ui/SE & greek ,ALTHOUGH THERE WEREN'T ANY PORTRAITS IN NE & GREEK, so i figured bc is taking portraits from m2tw, so tried replaceing the old portraits with my new onse but this time in m2tw/data/ui/SE/portraits (cos in m2tw data all europeans & greek portraits are in SE portraits rather than in greek & NE too) & greek/portraits but it didn't work. Just in case in each test i tried removing the map.rwm.

I had already succeeded before in bc 2.02 in changing a few of the first generals portraits of the Byzantine & Koj campaigns by making some new portraits in the custom_portraits folder of bc/data/ui/ & editing the descr_strat typing portrait general's name after the coordinates , but this time i can't figure out why i can't succeed in adding or replacing all NE, SE & Greek portraits of old, young & dead generals

each of my new portraits folders, old, young/generals & dead have 200 portraits each how its suppose to be & most of them i took from the game its self , i choose the early onse. I succeeded with them on other mods & i can't understand why i can't make them work on bc aswell.

I'm using windows xp pro & i had installed gamegeek2's EDU at the beginning & iv been playing bc2.02 for months now.
can some one give me a hand here?

Check in descr_cultures for the portrait path - it might have been changed. SE is the default path if no pics are in the designated path.

I just checked it, if i understood well, it said that both Greek & NE come from SE folder (although it says portrait_mapping). In fact in my previous NE & Greek portrait replacements modding of both vanilla m2tw & SS6.3 are just the same in SE, SE gives portraits to both Greek & NE besides SE aswell..

In the descr_cultures in M2TW/broken crescent/data/ each culture started like this:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    culture southern_european
    portrait_mapping southern_european
    rebel_standard_index 0

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    culture northern_european
    portrait_mapping southern_european
    rebel_standard_index 1

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    culture greek
    portrait_mapping southern_european
    rebel_standard_index 3

So it said just as i suspected, but in broken crescent/data/ui/SE - NE & Greek there is no general portraits at all, thats why i thought BC is taking portraits from m2tw/data/ui/SE/portraits cos all greek & european portraits i managed to find them there in m2tw/data/ui/SE/portraits. Just the same as in my both previous portrait replacement moddings of SS & vanilla m2tw.

i tried replacing the old portraits with my new onse in m2tw/data/ui/SE/portraits/generals/old - young & dead (just as i did in SS6.3) but they didn't show up in the new campaign i tried also by just adding my portraits in m2tw/broken crescent/data/ui/SE but didn't work either & i also tried making greek portraits in ui/greek , the ne portraits in ui/northern_european but nothing...

    i can't understand why

SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH mate, i hope i'm not confusing u with my broken English...

If your new stuff doesn't show up then it might be a completely different matter related to the UAC and Virtual Store. Please check that tutorial and see if it fixes your problem.

    Let me summarize:

    1. all portrait_mapping entries point to southern_european
    2. you tried replacing the portraits in the main game's folder (m2tw/data/ui/SE/portraits/generals/old - young & dead)

Have you tried to add your portraits to the ui folder of the mod?

As i said above, i tried in both main game's ui folder & mod's ui folder, even in both at once. Thats why i can't figure out why.. & only in BC i faced this problem cos in all my previous portrait replacement moddings i succeeded streight away.

EDIT: YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH I SUCCEEDED LOL Instead of creating just portraits - old - young & dead in the mod's ui/SE folder this time i tried to simply copy the entire SE in the ui folder from the main game's data, with all princess, rouges, civilians, interface, building etc etc & paste it instead of the mod's SE folder & it worked hehehe.

    Tnkx alot for ur help
