    Default Distant Thunder (Cannon Sounds)

Please direct me to a mod that addresses this if you can.

In M2TW Late Era battles, a player may set himself against an opponent with a battery of heavy artillery.
When viewed from a natural distance, the cannon fire can be seen AND a low decibel thump of the cannons fire can be heard.

I'm surprised to not hear these same far travelling low decibel thumps of cannon fire in NTW.
As an ex artillerist, I'm rather dissatisfied with that level of realism LOST to me. Kid gamers who never saw combat might not understand, but I'm certain my fellow vet players know exactly what i'm talking about.

You can hear cannon fire for miles and miles in those low frequencies. On night watch, you can almost feel more than hear engagements from 30 miles away.

So where did those low decibel sounds go? I thought maybe it had something to do with how sound v distance is calculated more than the sound files themselves.

And also, we seem to have many modders who actually think the sounds of artillery and muskets firing BLANKS gives the same rapport as a live load. Um, not in my experience. Blank fire doesn't even make me flinch. They feel like farts to my senses.

Grouchy mod replaces in-battle music with the sound of distant guns.

Not what you asked for but as close as I can see.

    Indeed, thank you!
I had heard of grouchymod but didn't know what it was about.
Quite awesome! I have no patience for in battle music anyway.
    I will use it.

I do still wonder why the old M2TW sounds aren't applicable though...
We clearly have a system of noise diminishing by distance from camera pos, but how could it be different from the way M2TW had it? I mean, were those low decibel, distant 'thuds' in M2TW a separate sound file, or were they just the same cannon sound files as when heard up close, but processed differently.
    ???
If they were processed differently, then it could be valuable to double check NTW sound scripts to see if those settings could be reintroduced or simulated.

So what files in NTW dictates the distance range of sounds to be heard on the battle map? Does anyone know?

I found Steph on another thread who has turned me on to a file and a tool that might help me make this possible!

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...e-and-all-that

I'm bollox using command line tools however, so if anyone else is good with Symphony use, please chime in and help me make this happen.
It sounds like it could be very simple.
