    Default Weird Shadows under Mumakil

I'm posting here on behalf of the fourth age mod. We've been having problems with some strange shadows under the belly of the mumakil, which are only visible from a reasonable distance. If you zoom in they disappear and regular shadows are displayed. Here's a screenshot:

Any pointers on how to correct this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

first of all holy **** that some big elephant,

i dont know what causes the problem but i have seen it before when ive had troops in the desert,

my guess here would be that as you've scaled the elephant up the engine cant re-scale the ground shadow , like if you try to zoom in on a low dpi image
    it just breaks up.

sorry i dont know how to fix ground shadows i think there coded.

for me it looks a little like the shodows for the crew of the elephant... they seem in the right positions for that anyway
but i don't know how that can help you if it is.. sorry

Yes, those are crew shadows. I've seen them on many other units. It is more noticeable with those elephants because they are so tall, but you can see the same with cavalry even.

Yep, the little dots are the crews' shadows. There's also the big blurry shadow, not sure why that is there, looks more like a black hole then a shadow :original: .

That's the normal "blot" shadow, fairly noticeable with mounted unts. It might change depending on what shadow settings are used. The interesting aspect is that the blot shadow is at the correct angle (comparing to trees) while the individual shadows are directly below, not in correct orientation with respect to the light source.

Shadows get cast through walls too...a neat trick.
