    Default Battle_Models

    Hey.

I'm adding 7 factions into Bare Geomod, (at the same time. ) and I eventually got it to work after lengthy editing. But the one thing I fear is the Battle_models.db file. I downloaded the formmatted version from Knight Errant, and begun to edit. But it'll take weeks for me to do it. I know there is a checker, but is there a faster way of making all 7 factions battle texture compatibile?

Thanks. (They're all copies of the HRE btw.)

I assume you are referring to adding texture entries for each new faction to the model.db for each model. If that is the case, it is a manual process and will probably be pretty damn time consuming.

Don't do the same mistake and do too many at a time before checking if the modeldb is valid.

Seconded. Theres nothing worse than editting a butt load of stuff in the modeldb then getting a CTD on start up with no error log, because you forgot a character somewhere.

Well there is a quick way, but...

    1) It only works if you are replacing factions, rather than adding them from scratch.
    2) If you want custom units with custom models, you have to add them and do the leg work yourself. No one ever said modding was a quick process.
    3) I can't guarantee it's bulletproof.

Simply download and install Notepad++, there is no excuse as to why you shouldn't have this. It is a fantastic tool that makes editing M2TW much less painful.

Run it, and bring up the search key with ctrl + f, there should be an option to "Switch dialog" or something to that effect. Click on it.

If one of your factions is say, replacing england, then just search "7 england" without the quotes, and replace it with a number, followed by the number of characters your faction name has. I.E. 8 crabwalk

This'll replace all entries of "7 england" to your faction, and you'll have England's textures.
