In LOTR and Third Age:TW, we don't have too much of lore-accurate details on stuff like armour, so they had no other opinion than use the films as basis for factions appeared there, Isengard, Rohan and Gondor as examples. As for others, the outfits (Dale, Eriador, Dwarves..) had to be created from various more-or-less accurate fan- and game concept-arts.
In here, in other hand, we have quite accurate and detailed descriptions on what type armor troops use, what are the things to recognize (in)famed commanders on the field etc. in the books already. Of course, that does not say they shouldn't consider using some of HBO(-like) armours or outfits. But it's up to them if they go with "strict lore", HBO-inspired, or something between the two.. I'm satisfied when they get 1.0 out nonetheless.
