Problem starting RS2

Windows 7

-Steam version
Yes, gold version and alexander total war.

I followed the steps mentioned, that are
1) With clean install of RTW I copied all the contents of rome total war gold in the alexander folder WITHOUT overwriting anything
2) I installed RS2 in a folder on the desktop and then I copy paste everything in alexander folder and overwrite files.

Problem is that the launcher wont start the game, simple as that.
This happens if I use default rome OR rome alexander exe as my engines. If I use BI engine the game will start but in wont give me an option to start the campaign ( only historical battles and custom ones are in the menu to choose.)

I tried twice to install it again, didnt work. Also running the launcher as administrator didnt work.

Here is a copy of the launcher.ini which I find strange in that is that the steam option always says no, no matter if I choose Yes in the launcher

Please help me fellas. I only bought RTW in steam just to play this mod

nope didnt work

will try later to completely forget about alexander and do the installation to rome total war gold ONLY

if anyone has any other idea please let me know

Hmm, on the launcher.ini file, manually change it to yes.
Also, whats the install path for steam itself?
And whats the install path for RS2?

RS2 - C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\rome total war gold (or alexander folder, installing to either doesnt work)

All i can say is delete EVERYTHING
manually make sure all RS2 files are gone.

Re-install RTW off steam.
Then, install RS2 to a folder on your desktop.
Then Copy and paste it all to where RTW.exe is located.
Then, take a screenshot of your folder where rtw.exe is located and we'll go back to basics and start from there!

Ok I have some bad news and good news regarding my problem.

BAD NEWS

1)With a clean install of RTW in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold,
I install RSII on a separate folder outside Program Files.

2) I copy all the RSII files in the RTW folder mentioned above.
Contents then are :

3) I run the launcher as administrator and ... I have the same problems mentioned before.
For example if I choose BI engine then the game starts but I dont have an option for a campaign.
If I choose RTW engine then NOTHING happens

Launcer.ini file is this : ( note I took out my steam id name)

Note that Steam=No is always like that and if I manually put it to 1 or Yes problem still is there.

My cmd pops up when game starts with BI engine ( remember though that I CANT choose a campaign, only custom + historical battles)

GOOD NEWS
I managed to run the game by following the instructions mentioned in the main thread when you cannot start the launcher.
That is go to steam library->rtw->properties and set launch option accordingly( for example -mod:play_Greeks -show_err -nm)


When I do this everything is fine and I can play the campaign


So what I ask is either you guys help me solve the first problem or tell me how I can change the settings by using solution number 2. I dont mind playing this way but I dont know how to edit the options the launcher gives you, because launcher wont work.

EDIT: For some strange reason I cant save my game. I started a Spartan campaign and save & load options are disables

there is a preferences editor under launcher/preferences editor.exe. just select the faction you want to edit prefs for.

The save & load one hasnt been around for a while, there is a thread if you use the search function, or it MIGHT be under known issues, but have a look
Can you take a screenshot of your menu as well please?
