Thread: Total War: ShoGun 2 Mod Manager

I'm using catching codes, so most errors should show an actuall error like "Sorry something went wrong!"

    Try updating netframework http://www.microsoft.com/download/en..._121LSUS007996
and download the new exe from sourceforge.

    "
Well it seems it hasn't update anything. I still got error by net 4.0 and no folder changeable. "

Just reread, yeah it wont auto update if a error occurs, so just update the exe from the site and it should be fine.

Unrar the file included, replace the current .exe with the new one provided. Run key.reg

Key.reg will add the missing registry key. then start the .exe

If this still doesn't work, it means my method isn't working and i'll rewrite it. Its working for me so i'm not 100% sure whats wrong.

This is exactly what I am looking for

I always wondered if such a tool existed, as it was messy learing my data folder just to play multiplayer!

    Checking it out now

I have had a play with your mod manager...

While I have got it working, and for the most part it does its job - it didn't work directly "out of the box", after installation.

When I launched the mod manager I was given an error, that the mods folder could not be found in my documents - and the program encountered and error whenever I tried to enable a mod.

Luckilly the error message told me the path of the missing mod folder - so I had to create it myself -

    C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\ShoGun2 Mod Manager\mods", manually.

This should be taken care of as part of the installation, someone who is not so savvy in computing may be easilly confused by this and may make them give up on the program before they have it working.

A few other seemingly random debug messages have appeared - but it is allowing me to move my mod packs to and from my data folder with ease - so I will continue to use it.

I notice that this thread has not been posted in for some time, I do hope you are still working on the mod manager as it is an invaluable tool for someone like myself who enjoys mod's and multiplayer.

Yeah it does, I only needed to create the empty mod folder after installation to get it to work (details in my last post).

Without this folder, the mod manager will not have a destination folder to move your packfiles to when you disable them - causing an error.

I am unsure about the other functionality as that seems quite buggy - but for enabling and disabling pack files - yes it does the job.

Hi there! With the last few builds I've had major problems, most of it has been corrupted and I gave up.

Since I've started to play again I'll probably end up rewriting and redesigning the Mod Manager. I only have old source files to work from so I'll probably start from scratch.

Also, it is meant to create those folders at the start. The programme is very strange, for me it works perfect most of the time, same with a few others, then other people can't get it too start or it doesn't function like it's meant to.

    Current plans:

Create an simple GUI in VB.

Allow backing up of .paks, enabling/disabling them as well.
Install mods from .zip or .rar

    Maybe a few other features.

Here you guys go, here is about 30 minutes work.

Doesn't update the user.script.text yet, next release I'll have it auto update the user.script

At the moment here is the basic version, all it does is start the game, detect game install location(or asks if it can't find it) Moves disabled .packs to My Documents/shogun 2 mod manager/ backup, and moves enabled mods to the shogun 2 data directory.

Eventually it will remove/add mods to the user.script, it will also not show the games default .packs

Will work on it some more tomorrow, see if I can find some of the old code and put it in this, get it up and running faster.

Anyways have a test and see if its working for you. (works for me)

NOTE: Because it doesn't update the user.script file yet, if you enable a mod which isn't in it, that mod wont load.

EDIT: This new version (Has Userlist added the to the rar name) Now includes user.script.txt update. Also now doesn't show non user mods.

Also now has a debug mode, it is useless for everyone but me, if you click it, it manually sets a variable.

I ghost my common folder of steam onto another drive, so the mod manager wont work with the ghosted folder.

For example, steam is on my SSD C:\ the common folder is on my E:\ but windows shows the common folder on C:\ still.

The mod manager doesn't like that, so I made the debug mode manually set the variable instead of detecting where the data folder is. if you click it, just unclick it and the mod manager will work again, if that fails, restart the mod manager.
