Default Questions on formations and facing commands

Question #1.) How do you get your units to face a different direction when setting up before battle, and during battle? The only way I know of is dduring battle, which is to move them a very short distance in the general direction that I want them to face. I know there has got to be a better method than this.

Question #2.) How do I change formation depth and breadth? For example: How do I get 80 archers to form up as 10 archers across and 8 deep, instead of 20 archers across and 4 deep?

    Thank you.

to turn them around use the < and > keys for left and right.

to alter depth you can use -(_) and = (+) keys. But i usually just hold down the right click button on the mouse to spread the units how i want and do it more accurately because you can see where they will be.

    happy playing

you can try holding shift then right click and drag in the direction u wish the unit(s) to face.

    Thanks guys!

I did the < and > keys, and the right mouse click techniques, last night: Just what I was looking for! I'll try to remember to use the shift-right-click technique, tonight.

One other related question on battle movement: How do I get my units to move to a location via waypoints; and can you add facing movements ("turn and face this direction") and/or attack commands as part of a waypoint sequence? For instance: My units are headed north, to meet an enemy that is headed south. I want to order my heavy cavalry to break off to the west, turn north and charge PAST the enemy unit, turn east and charge in behind the enemy unit, then turn south and charge into the enemy from behind. How do I do this?

hold down the <Shift> key and then right click where you want your unit to move to (double right click if you want them to run). You should see a red thing appear which looks like !

Then, while still holding down the <Shift> key click where you want the next waypoint to be (again remembering to double-click if you want them to run).

Keep doing that until yu get them to where you want them to go.

I dont use < or > very often, mostly just right-click and drag, and I never use waypoints. I prefer to manage all my troops, less chance of my cavalry running into pikes
