Default Best GPU for playing MTWII and RTW

Hi, I mentioned this in another thread but thought it'd get more of a response here.

It seems I won't be able to take my PC components on my flight so I am wondering which set up is best to start over.

The PC is only for gaming and some offline server work so with those two things in mind maybe I can get some recommendations.

Not really interested in the latest TW games so not worried about DX10 or whatever. But if the new GPU is high end it needs to be able to run MTWII and RTW smoothly. Preferably the older TW games too.

I am looking at a rig like this:
    Asus MB
Nvidia gtx card of some type
    4gb ram high speed ram
    cpu...
Which burner? ha I've read about a few issues with these running TW games so to be on the safe side..
HDD isn't really an issue toher than being 7200 rpm which is standard for pcs anyway I think

Thanks for any help, I'll check back later.

Shogun One and Medieval One, nothing newer than 7000 series if Nvidia. Anything newer is not supported. Any drivers newer than 173 are not supported.

I have a 128mb nvidia 7300LE that will run all through Medieval2 but Medieval2 is on low settings.

    Ahhh

So, looks like I'll have to buy an even older rig too for the really old games then. Thanks.

Can't believe I was dumb enough to sell my old pc a few years ago. Still got an old gpu though plus this gts8800 now I suppose, once I get some ideas here for a new one.

ati / amg gpus run shogun and medieval just fine ran those games on a 4870x2 5850 crossfire and 6970 crossfire without issue.

for older game compatibility and of a decent performance lvl AMD/ ATI covers those bases
cpu dual core at the very least. higher clock speed the better. since Medieval 2 and Rome are single threaded the dualcore will run background apps etc on 1 core leaves the other core for the game for best results also again higher clock speed better performance so Core 2 Duo at 3ghz would be the most effective solution for THOSE games.

for HDDs. id suggest Samsung F3 or F4 series

F3 1tb is $65usd and its the fastest of current 1tb drives altho most have caught up and are now on par but its still the cheapest 1tb

F4 320gb HDD is the fastest HDD on the market in read write speeds also pretty cheap as well.

as for a gpu for those games

cheap and cost effective also low power consumption. 5670 512mb PCIe its performance is around 8800gt /gts but uses very little power and works fine in older games.
