    Default Launch Error(s)...

    Hello there;

    So I've downloaded RS2 and installed it onto a clean copy of RTW patched to 1.5 (located elsewhere, as Program files (x86) you advised against).

    Everytime I start up the launcher, it states "If you get this error, then you've probably done something wrong.. etc" followed by 3 error messages:
    1. "You don't have Roma Surrectum 2 installed in the correct folder. (C:\Users\Public\Games\RTW)" - (I definately HAVE installed RS2 into the folder specified);
    2. "Engine:RomeTW-BI.exe, Faction campaign: -mod:play_rome" - (???);
    3. "In total: 'RomeTW-BI.exe - mod:play_rome -show_err -nm -moview_cam'" - (???)

    When I select the RomeTW.exe engine to run (as opposed to the RomeTW-BI.exe which it chooses for you), no error messages come up, and it simply closes down.

    I've read up on a few threads about the same thing, but none of them really came to a conclusion. I've redownloaded RS2 multiple times to make sure it's not a corrupt download I've been trying to get working.

    Any help is appreciated

    Hello and welcome to the forum.

    This kind of issue usually comes from a bad install.
    Are you sure RSII is installed over the RTW folder, and not in it? (ie does your folder looks like this one?)

    It looks almost identical apart from a few things:

    In your picture, it has 'RomeTW.exe', whereas in mine it's simply 'RomeTW', or have I completely missed the point in that the install you linked is incorrect?

    Also, whereas you have 'RSII_MP.bat' and 'RS2_RTW.bat' etc, I simply have 'RSII_MP' and 'RS2_RTW' etc..

    As Paedric has stated this is caused by the folder options (hide extensions of known file types). As shown on this (Windows 7) window (second bottom option):

    I prefer to always show the extensions as sometimes files really don't have extentions and then don't operate how you expect them to. It can also lead to people adding a second extension to the file by renaming it and then again it can lead to some problems.

    Ok, so the problem does not come from that. You are simply not seeing the files extensions (.exe and .bat in this case), but that's just a windows option.

    Could you try to use one of those bat files? The RS2_RTW.bat (or RS2_RTW if you don't see the extension).
    It should open a black window, simply type 2 for instance, then enter.

    Does it work or not?
