    Default Family Member's Loyalty

This is more of a comment than a question. I think that original family members of the Julii should not have issues with loyalty since they belong to that family. Example: Vibius Julius should not betray the Julii family.

Also what would happen if you do not let others marry into your family? Is it possible that the Julii bloodline will die out and I could run out of Generals?

Once you expand, you will have so many different family names and generals that the "original family" and its bloodline are irrelevant.

Even family members would betray each other in real life.

Yeah I suppose it does. I just had so much pride for the Julii. I'm now at the point where the remaining family members are dubious, disgraceful, and unfit to lead an army let alone govern a city. I would gladly have them fight and die with honor if I wasn't so sure they would betray me.

Just a quick question concerning loyalty. Does stationing your general in a fort have the same effect as in a town? I use forts quite a lot for all kinds of reasons and to date i have never had a general rebel while garrisoned in a fort. I've been wondering for some time now if this is intentional or i've just been extremely lucky.

I'm not sure. I would say they could still rebel but I can't exactly remember if any of my generals betrayed me while stationed in a fort. I know that they are less likely to rebel with less units under their command.

I don't think so, forts don't have scriptoriums and the other buildings that could educate your generals.

really? I had cities rebelled with no garrison and full legions as well. Its all about loyalty really, it adds surprise and is really great.

And to your OP, its irrelevant, these problems with loyalty occur later in the game, not first 40 turns afaik.

Yeah i suppose that makes sense. For the record i'll continue stationing them in forts and doing what i do and the moment one of them rebels, i'll blow the whistle.

Best thing is let them rebel and take the legion and city with them. Thats the whole point of the feature. If I could I wouldnt allow the player the choice to remove the general from the army or city, but RTW's Engine isn't really friendly for complete revolts so we are stuck where the player that Micromanages can catch the revolt before it happens and remove the Leader, which is what is NOT suppose to happen. So House rule is If a Character revolts in loyalty leave him till the next turn so he can DO what he was SUPPOSE to do.

Well LT, great idea btw, but I can't help but notice that one of my provinces population revolts because they are unhappy with their governer. Buildings get destroyed, soldiers get killed. There have been more than a few times where my provinces rebeled and I've had to send legions to execute the population. But with all the work it took to take those cities, I won't tolerate unfit generals. If they want to be dubious and corrupt, then they will have to buildwatch towers in the middle of nowhere and deal with rebel slaves. It might not be the house rules but my empire is progressing because of it.

Some provinces tend to rebel no matter who you put in there. And afterall, not everybody was perfect at those times so, micromanage.

Toletum, the sort of middle region in Spain was like that for me, i took it 3 times, and even now years on it's barely lawful - PO at 80%, minimum taxes, full stack of townwatch, compitent governor. Currently building Stone Wall so that should improve things.

I don't think i could handle losing a crack legion (gold chevron type) to a traitorous general though, it's something i've yet to experience, a bitter pill to swallow no doubt. If it's going to happen it'll happen at my borders with Germania cos at the moment that's where several of my finest are stationed, most in forts and with the biggest concentration of aging generals in command. I'm doing all the necessaries though, giving them R&R and keeping a close eye on the whiteness of their hair ... I try and retire them at around 55yrs but it's never that simple is it.

I will do as you say for the record, LT. Give them a full turn to see what they do should anyone rebel. I think it's a great feature BTW, the fact that you're having to second guess loyalties, keeps you on your toes.

I find it fun and challenging. I have had 6 Legions Revolt out of 15 This caused MASSIVE gaps in my lines which the Germans exploited ASAP. Plus I had to destroy the Rbel legions and retake the Provinces. Things like this happened to Rome and slowed the expansion because it.
