Bring it on! Whether it's Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher or really hardcore stuff from Albert King and Howlin Wolf, it's all welcome! What are your favourite blues artists? What kind of blues do you listen to?

Rory Gallagher all the way. In my opinion far more talented and humble than Clapton ever was.

He is my favourite non-American bluesman. In fact is my favourite bluesman along with Joe Bonamassa. Trully talented, his songs inspire me everyday. Plus he is Irish and we have the same haircut!
I highly recommend Irish tour and Calling Card. Two of the greatest albums in history. Actually add Tattoo on the list!![]()

I don't listen to a lot of blues, but Rory's good.
I like this also:
4 in 1
"My garden may be smaller than your Rome, but my pilum is harder than your sternum!"
a great song ... and one more ... ok, one last

Rory Gallagher is one of my favorite guitarists that's for sure. One of the guys i would recommend also,is RM Tocak, with his band Smak.Simply because you wouldn't expect high quality musicians playing blues,in a small country in the Balkans,in the '70s.And to be original.
How can we NOT have any RJ here already?
I love seeing how people are beginning to love Rory more and more the further away from his death we get, hopefully his message will spread in the future as well. He was not only an amazing musician and genius, he was one of the most humble and modest/ down to earth people you could ever meet despite his fame. My friends dad met him in a pub at the height of his fame and he treated him like any other guy.

Censorship is never over for those who have experienced it. It is a brand on the imagination that affects the individual who has suffered it, forever.

wait a minute we are talking about the blues.... not rock/Blues... not exactly the same thing, the Hendrix experience, or Clapton and Rory etc, its rock based on blues for me not exactly blues. Other current on the 60s will be also janis joplin, Doors etc. very based on blues. wich is nice, but not pure blues.
I could consider MIles davis, john colltrane, Herbie hancok, real blues.
harmonica shah :p
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Or the čpic Robert johnson for me the king of Blues with his guitar
Clapton just make the cover for "hellhound on my trail" actualy he cover alot of song of RJ a tribute to him
I agree its heretical this thread opening without RJHow can we NOT have any RJ here already?![]()

Miles Davis, Colltrane and Hancock are jazz musicians.
Well it depends. Rory has a lot of hardcore blues stuff and so does Clapton (although he has some rockers and even pop songs). And then there are those artists that are a blues based but you can't really tell, because of their influences (Little Feat, Rolling Stones).wait a minute we are talking about the blues.... not rock/Blues... not exactly the same thing, the Hendrix experience, or Clapton and Rory etc, its rock based on blues for me not exactly blues. I know they are jazz musicians i know all too well. Rory, and Clapton, and jimmy hendrix and Led Zepllin, are rock artists.
the funny thing with Blues, you can find it on manny forms, hiding it behind manny instruments, but the soul the improvisation of the blues its there . the same way you could find Blues on rock, you can find on jazz too. Its all im saying.
In fact the Blues was very important influence on the development of the jazz we know today at the beginning of the 20th century.
i gess the the same can be said for rock and roll, since the 50s
Bessie Smith in the end of the19 century and in the beginning of the 20th century also
well they arent artificial, becouse they are in fact diferent, but what is fascinating is their similarities.hate these artificial divisions "rock blues" "classic blues" etc.I mean,i consider equally blues this
