China seriously violates Vietnam's sea 27/5/2011.

Vietnam's TV reported: Friday 27/5/2011 at 5:5' PM (Vietnam's time) 3 China marine surveillance ships infiltrated deep into Vietnam's sea (120 knot from land) and directly attack/harass PVN (Petro Vietnam the main petrol company of VN) exploration ship the Bình Minh 02. This harassment caused damaged to Vietnam's ship technical equipment (probe and cable)!!

In the same day at 7 pm the national TV of Vietnam reported what happened there. Vietnam declare:

"Vietnam affirmed the infiltration of China's ship deep in the waters of Vietnam to h arras, destroy or hinder the activities of exploration and survey of the PVN is normally a very brazen act, flagrant violation of the sovereignty of Vietnam, causing major economic damage and obstruct the operation of the PVN."

According to many fishing boat: after the incident hundreds China's fishing boat infiltrated deep into Vietnam water and proved very aggressive toward lone or small groups of Viet Nam fishing boats! Beside using superior number to gather all fisheries those "bloodthirsty pirates" even surrounded Viet's ships and threaten them with cold steel weapon. That's not mention more than 30 China warships and marine surveillance ships crawling at Trường Sa islands (which undoubtedly belong to Vietnam) to block Vietnam's fishing boats working there!

Meanwhile Vietnam government starting to demand China to pay compensation. China didn't answer yet.

The only good new is people still calm.

According to some "Unofficial sources": Vietnam was reacting at "necessary level". Anyway i won't say more than necessary here

_Vietnam will greatly speed up the plan to create a new "fishermen director"

Now, back on topic, somehow I doubt this story is exactly like the OP is saying it is. I haven't heard of anything on the news, so far, and I doubt China would attack a ship out of sudden. They don't want problems right now.

Doesn't seem likely though, I bet the US will be as thrilled to assist Vietnam against China as it was to help Georgia vs Russia. Especially with all the US debt China currently holds.

hear hear i totally agree with your point of view but yeah china will be the latest imperialist countries (even their commie idealogy is anti-imperialist but thats their hypocrisy anyways) and that encourages nationalism to china which had a strange sydrome of thinking they had have been opressed by the westerners for the past 200 years and wants revenge (eventhough the opression is mostly because the incompetance amongst the chinese themselves which is like 70% of the blame and failed the stop the western influence in the first place)

In fact, that era contains many Chinese domination periods, each period happens in some tens to hundreds years. There are some hundreds of years that Vietnamese gains their independence.
And, before that era, Chinese (Hans) imported many Baiyue and Lac Viet (Vietnam today) cultures, inventions, so today we don't know what culture belongs to the Hans and what culture belongs to the Viet/Yue.
