should havcustom-units in SP (next TW e THIS!)
Edit: Sorry for the crippled title. ^^
Because of another thread ( http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=455240 ) I got an idea...
I personally think that the vet-system from MP (Shogun 2) wouldn't fit good into SP, because of the much increased need of micro-management compared to the little increase of benefit.
Here is my alternative: custom-units
Make your own unit (or units) from different options like the following, than they are recruitable in your cities like standard-units.
Men: peasent - conscript - soldier - elite - hero/generals guard
Determines the number of men, the ground stats and the stat-increase by ranking.
Armor: none - light - medium - heavy
Determines the armor and the speed.
Horses: yes/no
Horsearmor: none - partly - full
Determines the armor and the speed of the horses. (Should take into account what armor the men on the horses wear.)
Primary: bows/crossbows - swords - maces - 2-handed - spears - (firearms)
Determines how the unit is able to fight and affects most stats.
For each category there should be some weapons with different looks/stats. Like spear: short spear, long spear, lance, ...
Secondary: shields - throwing weapons - special-objects
Slightly affect some stats.
Shields give additional armor to the front (in hand) or back (if weared on the back).
Throwing weapons are something like throwing axes, bombs, ... (with much less munition and range than bows).
Special-objects: Something like a bigger quiver (more arrows) or a banner (more moral).
Abilitys: all you can imagine
Should be tied and automatically applied to the units depending on their settings. Wall (shield in hand and/or spear, no horse), "Banzai" (elite or hero, no ranged primary), Firearrows (bows), and so on ...
The price of the units and the buildings are needed to recruit them should also be tied to the settings.
This custom-unit-feature would also be a good combination with a deep tech-tree, because most options could be researched and the powerfull options would only be available in the lategame.
For the AI there could be standard unit-setups that are used by AI-factions (but still different setups for different cultures/factions).
Sorry for the wall of text, but I hope you enjoy my idea.
P.S: I don't know how to make a Poll, so write your opinions down.
