Help w/ Trojan Horse

I just got Norton Anti Virus Symantec and it detected a trojan vindo virus. I tried to remove it but it just will not delete. I've downloaded Spyware Doctor and this too did not remove it. Supposedly it is being used by another program so I can't remove it by hand. I read another article regarding this issue in other sites and it says that this virus is difficult to remove and might need an expert's help.

Since I belive there are very capable computer heads here moreso than myself I want to know if anyone has resolved this before or if there are any suggestions you can give me cuz I am beaten so far. Thanks in advance to your replies.

Also, starting windows in safe mod then deleting the file(s) usually solves the problem (though I shred them with spybot, as this seems to stop them replicating.
