Is there anyway to increase the amount of Samurai the Ikko Ikki can field? Currently they have no No-dachi Samurai, no Naginata Samurai, and no Gun Samurai (you can just call them Ronins) and almost no calvary to speak of. (Because of this, I end up just spamming huge armies of Yari Ashigaru with gold rated armor, and Teppo Ashigaru with silver rated accuracy, and just use sheer numbers to overwhelm my opponents, because elite units are so rare. I can only recruit 3 teppo monk units, and it took FOREVER to get all the techs, temples, and arsonals just to GET them. At least raise the cap to 6-8, just for the SHEER amount of requirments just to get them. (Prehaps making them the/a garrison unit for an Arsonal/or 3rd tier temple)

Also, the Ikko Ikki appear not to be able to recruit Teppo Kobaya or the Rocket varient.

For some reason, the requirement for monk calvary I see listed is to convert to Christianity [this may be a bug] and I haven't been offered to convert to Christianity for the first 100 turns so I can't test this. Check Lower-Left Corner, res is a little fuzzy, but it's a cross.

    Hi Yarkis/team,
Any thoughts towards this idea http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=463489, wouldn't be bad to be able to recruit the clan unit from the castle. As far as i can tell it well help the AI just as much as the Player. And allow the larger AI clans (or the smaller ones if you add it for them) to get stronger armies from the beginning.

The problem at harder levels is also that the AI is very aggressive. As soon as you start expanding the whole japan declares war on you and since they DO produce a lot of units you are doomed... especially if you rely on trade (they ALSO produce fleets so you're as good as gone with total blockades, no incomes, full Japan upon you AND bankrupt. Normal level is balanced enough.

I know what you mean, the only way i have been able to deal with the all against me attitude is to utilise Vassals, i take a few provinces for myself but more often than not i will make a vassal out of them, i don't see the worth in the extra unit... well except somehow i ended up with a pike and shot unit on the 5th turn in my shimazu game. but it is worth the trade income and vassal charges.
If you pump them up enough you end up with not only a buffer but an effectual ally.

    Just some thoughts.

Vassals during Realm divide SUCK. The very turn I make a vassal they declare war on me, without waiting to even put out the fires on all their buildings and all this while my army is still standing right outside their walls. It's a great way to cause their family to be TOTALLy wiped out, and have their faction last for a single season because these idiot vassals have no common sense or honor. During realm devide (though I use a mod so that it takes twice as long for it to happen) I make DAMN sure that I have a strong "tax" economy and large budget to start with. Even so, with 100000 funds and no profit margin, at suddenly being at war on 7 fronts, I tend to burn through that money fairly quickly, and end up in a desperate expansion, taking out the major forts the enemy has to gain tax revenue. Sometime I might be able to get one vassal to not go suicidal against me in the same turn, but even then it only offers 1500 in trade income, so I prefer to stick to long term town growth and markets.

The problem with vassals is that unless you strongly fortify their regions with your own armies (which is much more expensive than taking the vassal's half income + trading with them) someone is going to attack them and you are pulled into a difficult choice where whatever side you pick you LOSE.
A major will attack the vassal and you either lose the vassal (hence most likely having a needle in your flank) or you go to war with a major (and your vassal's help will be very little in this war even though you are defending it).

Obviously, during the realm divide, vassals ALSO are affected by your conquests (expansions) so their attitude towards you drops little by little and even newly conquered vassals sooner or later will revolt. There's nothing else to be added. The problem with attitude modifiers is EXTREME and during the realm divide it becomes too hard to handle that's why I play normal difficulty... I know it's easy but the solution is to lower down the realm divide modifier. At hard level you have no funds to make gifts and it's impossible to keep a good attitude towards the other clans, including allies and vassals.

As they are now, vassals are a real problem because of this attitude modifiers problem.

Wait...what? If you mean battle difficulty, normal is the statistical base. Hard and above buff AI unit stats relative to yours. Or have I missed some fundamental change from previous games? My virtual honour balloon just deflated a bit

I found troop losses to be unnecessarily high playing above N battle difficulty with the continuous stack grind and expenses on VH campaign difficulty, but it is possible that I just suck somewhat...particularly if hard has become normal

I think this is true only for the campaign difficulty in vanilla, not for the battle difficulty. In TROM3 normal campaign difficulty does not favour the player btw.

Would it be possible to make each season last 3 turns? At least for my own game. I've always found each turn to be a new season to be slightly gimmicky; generals also get old too quickly and by the time you can get them decently skilled you can not enjoy them for very long, or perhaps I am missing something?

Hey Yarkis, just curious have you added techs/abilities in for agents? ie Ninja. I am wondering because i maxed out 1 of my ninja's for the first time and when i count up all the skill points i get i don't think i can reach level 3 ninjitsu even if i wanted.... just something to put out there.

wondering if you will be adding Naginata Ronin and No-Dachi Ronin to ikko-ikki and possible adding Katana and No-Dachi Monks to ikko-ikki and Uesugi?

This maybe an oversight, but in the beta, the Ikko Ikki do not have the new model samurai, instead they still use Sword Ronin and Bow Ronin respectively with their old caps still in place.

The ikko ikki don't get any samurai beside the ronin for historical reasons. And the katana ronin are changed to the bow & katana daisho style.

Just an idea. Can you change the lame bonuses you get if your the first faction to build a 4th-tier temple/market from being agent action discounts to something better? Maybe a lower upkeep cost for all monk combat units, or a combat bonus?
As for the end tier market, maybe a 20% increase to trade or tax income? Or prehaps something more impressive, like an upkeep discount on ALL combat units?

If your the first to built the Arsonal, you get something cool like all gunpowder units reload 10% faster, which is something I strive to built first.

I do only units I have fitting icons for.

I look into it. Btw do those reload bonuses now work? In my tests a few patches back they didn't.

The whole design of the nanban trade ship is a bit off. Maybe the scaling of the model is wrong. The soldiers stand behind man high walls i never saw on a ship of that era and are basically unkillable by arrow fire. So the only way to defeat that ship is to board it or set it aflame. When I played shimazu I had two ships and was usually able to defeat a whole pirate fleet by staying out of the range of their fire arrows. Making the cannons more powerfull would make this trade (!) ship a invincible juggernaut. Maybe one day somebody can alter the model so the crew can get hit by arrows.

I will look into it. And into any other changes the patch makes. Btw they stole the Takeda fire cavalry idea from TROM3.
