Default How would Rome Total War 2 be improved?

I'm genuinely curious. This game was pretty much perfect, and I prefer exploring new historical settings, so I personally don't want the next total war to be rtw2.

That said, because odds are the next title is rtw2, I'm not quite sure how they can improve on the original. (Other than graphics.)

No more ing diplomat thank god, thats a pain in the ass to walk all the across the entire map just to get something going. If they add in all the features from the newer total war games Rome 2 Total War should be pretty sweet.

No more replenishing only in settlements. Thats one reason why I quit playing RTW is because I got use to the newer features and the old ones became a pain.

You can name your Legion armies now.

And Spartans should have bigger shields to where they get hit with volleys of arrows they can lay down under their shields but cant move since Legionaires have the testudo formation.

Rome 2 Total War would be awesome, you arent thinking outside of the box. Im just curious if Rome is only going to be 1 faction instead of split into 3 faction families.

I hope they add new features too, to where you can edit your own generals appearance with armor and even name him in Campaign mode. You can do it in multiplayer avatar conquest S2TW, I hope you can do it in single player one of these days.

Never mid historical battles (although more of them),
What about historical campaigns and scenarios on a zoomed in more detailed part of the map (Varus in Germania etc.)

Yes please - alongside the usual Grand Campaign. The more focused historical element was one of the very best things about Kingdoms.

Edit: Flaming pigs were used - albeit extremely rarely - to frighten elephants.

Flaming pigs were used only once.

How can you improve something that doesn't exist yet. You don't even know what the features are yet.

No flaming pigs, no screeching women, no 3 Roman faction + 1 Roman senate, no 2000bc Egyptian, no united Gauls, no united Britons, either start the game when Rome was just a single city or on the eve of 2nd Punic war maybe.

i really want to answer this with brilliant ideas ive had/seen in past few years (alot of them put in by MODDERS NOT DEVS) but there is no point. without modding tools for this warscape engine, vanilla total war is just gonna get more and more streamlined, minimum variety and graphics orientated.
at present there is very little chance i am going to spend anymore money in the future on total war stuff

be cool if they put more detail into the Roman government. anyone who had played Europa Universalis: Rome would get the basic idea, although not THAT complicated, but a watered down version of that.

Yeah, I forgot: How could Rome 2 be improved? Don't focus on multiplayer.

Diplomatic time table. Open diplomatic relations table, x amount of turns (2 or 3, maaaybe 4) till diplomacy is done. Or in other words, you send the diplomats automaticly, takes them a turn or two to arrive.

Maybe even bring back the diplomat and have automatic diplomacy as well. You can auto-diplomacy for some things, but for special interest its best to bring a star player to the table.

Also, one thing roman was using diplomacy against others. Turning barbarian against barbarian. Allying with one side to defeat another, then stabbing the ally in the back and allying with another to defeat the former ally. As well as good ole fasion playing both sides and watching them kill eachother from a distance. Maybe some way to incorporate that as well.

that would be cool. the main problem with the old system where you had diplomats was how long it took them to get anywhere compared to the games time system. in vanilla Rome it would take a diplomat 10 years to get to briton, etc. diplomats should be able to cover alot of ground quite quickly.

Scrap warscape and go back to focusing on the tactical battle mechanics and battlemaps. All this extra fluff for the campaign is starting to make it feel a lil too much like Civ. Also I want to see real multi-tiered settlements without all the pathfinding problems of yore.

No matter what future total war game it is , i hope CA makes sure that when you zoom out in the battle map that you can actually distinguish your troops . Instead of looking pretty when up close . I would rather see some sort of total war game where there is no naval battles , because they just boring and have most of the time no meaning in the outcome of your campaign. I havn't encountered a single total war game where naval warfare even mattered besides carrying troops , maybe it would mean something if you wouldn't be able to load 3000 troops on one ship.

Then i wish CA would learn from a company like Blizzard to release a map editor like Starcraft 2 or warcraft3 has and we could finally see the talents and creativity from our modding community , the modders have talent but they are restricted. Well another thing what i would like to see is to be able to play a MP campaign with like 8-12 players at the same time .

Easy, all the factions, units and ideas from Europa barbarorum somehow implemented in the warscape engine and I'll buy it!

If they start on Rome 2 then they'd beter have a long chat with the EB team
