    Default Installation Problem

    Dudes,
I have a complete and fresh installation of Medieval 2 Total War Gold Kingdoms. I already downloaded the mod (1.4) + sound. I installed the mod more than twice but I can't play it.

    Problems:
Campaign( Chaos storm) don't work. When I push the play button it opens the main menu.

I need somebody to explain me the installation step by step.

I use Vista by the way.

    I cannot effort another failure

    Thanks for any response!

you should post this in the bug/help forum and i have seen this question pop up several times in the past two weeks. try to find them they might answer your question. i never really followed the solution of this problem.

edit: i dont know but i think i remember people who had this problem were the people who downloaded red dwarf's mod. the cause is unknown as far as i know try downloading the link posted here.

    best of luck to you.

Make sure you download the Translation from the second post in the English translation thread. That has a file that will fix it.

I also copied these files into these folders.

But I haven't disabled the "UAC". Do you think this could lead to this problem?

    I also haven't patched Kingdoms to 1.5.

edit: Is the Culuminative Patch 1.4 absolute important? Can I patch the mod 1.4 directly to 1.4.4 without going thorugh 1.4.1 and 1.4.2?

Yes, disable your UAC and delete your "VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SEGA" folder (it can found here: 'C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local')*

*You must have hidden folders visible to get to your Virtual Store folder

    So these are the steps

    1.Disable UAC

    2.Patch Kingdoms to 1.5

    3. Install Mod 1.4

    4. Patch mod to 1.4.4

    5. Use English_translation.rar

edit: I also want to install the sounds.

I downloaded the mod through torrent. Holy Pilgrimm postet the download site here in forum.

Yes, you have the order correct. Try using the download links here rather than the torrent. It contains everything the torrent does, but it may cause less issues for you.

There is a much larger Problem... this problem is not CoW fault.

After patching the entire game to 1.5 I can't launch the kingdoms.exe.
It asks for "original cd" but i am using the original cd.

    I need help!

When you patched kingdoms to v1.5, did you use the appropriate patch? There are multiple versions of the 1.5 kingdoms patch, and you may have used an incorrect one.

Try re-installing EVERYTHING, and update kingdoms to v1.5 using the download that is appropriate to your game.

Yes, there's a EURO and USA patch. What worked for me was just re-installing the 1.5 patch. I believe I first did the EURO 1.5 patch and it already gave some errors during install. Then I did the USA 1.5 patch and it worked.
