    Default Mladic Captured

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13561407

The man suspected of ordering the Srebrenica massacre has possibly been arrested the day that EU High Representative Ashton visits Serbia.

The capture of Mladic is one of the final barriers for Serbia applying to the EU.

Hopefully it's him. It will be a good thing for Serbia.

Exceptional or not, yet it comes as a kind of relief for the entire society. Mladic personified Serbia which is no more. This country cannot be held hostage by one man or a group of them. Millions of normal people were looked upon through a prism of a war criminal. That's why it comes as a relief. Since we fully acknowledged the int'l institutions, he will be handed over to them so he can finally fend for himself without holding Serbia as a hostage. He was a ballast for all of us but at last, one unpleasant story is over. Well done to the BIA and all other services.
As president Tadic said, he was arrested on our soil, by our agents. And the very last thing that matters at this point is what someone else will have to say, for we did it for ourselves, and ourselves only.

And i'll quote the president in regards to the moral justification why the BIA (Serbian Intelligence Service) arrested him:
"...for all our people, for every Serb. No matter where those Serbs may be living".

It needed to be done, and it has been done. The chapter called Mladic has just been closed.

Well said, but it I do not agree it has quite yet closed, although Serbia's role may be coming to an end. He needs to be tried yet.

One has to question how he could hide with such a close relative.

It was not a very close relative...All his closer family was under surveillance 24/7 for years. Now we know he was hiding under a false name, with his looks almost completely changed(no hair, shaved, old and apparently in a bad health condition). The answer may be in the fact that the village where he was arrested, had large numbers of refugees from the same Bosnian village where Mladic was born...

Sure, the trial is yet to begin. However, i think we can comfortably agree that his trial will be a matter of procedure. Some others had already been tried for the connected crimes and the prosecution has it all already delivered in evidence. We may only hope it will end sooner rather than later, so that memory on those unfortunate times may start its long voyage into the oblivion. For such times and such men don't qualify for anything better.

He will be well defended, and done right. The evidence will be dredged up and fully examined. His supporters will be robbed of any legitimate platform. It don't believe it to be procedure.

heh you beated me to it

Finally he is behind bars where he deserves to be, for now informations are still unconfirmed but apparently guy named "Milorad Komadić" is arrested on suspect that he is actually Ratko Mladic (Serb war criminal responsible for numerous atrocities in Bosnia and Croatia including Srebrenica Genocide)

when I get more info I will update..

Media contacted Serbian police and they are told that police is in process of DNA analysis in order to confirm that arested guy is actually him, they told that operation was secret operation conducted by special police forces...

PS. I am watching this live on TV thus I am not able to provide any links or so..

This guy does not deserve to be behind bars. This guy is to be trialed and to be sentenced to death.

AFAIK it has only been confirmed that a man suspected of being Mladic is in custody, not that he certainly is Mladic.

Although, with the President of Serbia due to make a statement, it almost certainly must be him.

Very, very interesting that he was "captured" on such auspicious timing.

Why do you have to take a little scrutiny so personally? Not everything is an insult to your glorious people.

Edit: one of your own sources mentions that confirmation is "expected", not yet available

You'll forgive my caution when the Serb members of this forum are liable to launch an assault on me. I am being accurate.

As you can see in my edit, I did. One of them, at least, clearly states that confirmation is expected: not yet available.

As far as I can tell, confirmation will not be available until the President's press conference, although it's obvious that it is going to be given.
