    Default 6.3 savefile CTD

I seem to be plagues with CTDs lately.

I cannot open savefiles, as at the very end of its load (when the bar makes the sword all bloody) the CTD occurs. It is the same for autosave and regular save files. It worked a few turns back (now I am at turn 127) and I have not changed anything recently.

I have no idea what's going on. Log attached. Let me know if any other info is needed.
    Thanks in advance.

Most likely something happened that corruped your savegame files a few turns back.

Looks like this system.log is from a campaign map crash and not a savegame load ctd - nothing major besides the beloved red hering entry after minor_win.bik which regretably can be many things.

Thanks, so would you recommend reinstalling SS then? Or maybe disabling the cache in the cfg?
I have the last savefile I can load from turn 126, and I tried playing 1-3 turns after that, and no matter how I save the game beyond that point, the savefile would not load. But if it's campaign related, a re-install could work.

If you don't have a savefile from 5 or 10 turns ago I'm not sure a reinstall will help. Some additional system.logs might be useful, for example a ctd system.log after a failed load or another campaign ctd. I assume you can't connect this to a specific AI faction? Mongol emergent?

I have another system log with identical last few lines to the ones you posted (except for the timestamp of course - attached in case it helps). But as you mentioned the emerging factions, this could be the Teutons. The Mongols have been around for a few turns, but the Teutons just spawned the turn before the last good savefile, and they got another army spawned the turn after.
Any remedy for that? (and thanks for the rapid responses!)

You can check in with toggle_fow if the mongols and teutons do anything out of the ordinary (like siege themselves) and prevent that but I wouldn't get my hopes up

Very interesting twist! I think I was able to go through this (we'll see, but looks promising). Here is the story in case it helps anybody in the future.

    The problem

    - Early Kievan campaign, turn 126. Teutons emerge, one army besieges Palanga, the last Lithuanian city. I press end_turn.
    - Turn 127. Teutons are still besieging Palanga, and another Teuton army spawns. I make my moves (don't bother the Teutons). I save the game under a different name. I press end_turn. I quit the game to do some actual work.
    - I try to load turn 127 next time, once it seems to load fully, CTD comes. I can reload turn 126, but I cannot load turn 127. I try various saves during turn 127, none of the savegames from that turn load any more.

    The solution
    - I load turn 126 again. Move on to turn 127. Make my moves (all autoresolve, lost a general ). Teutons are still fooling around Palanga. Save turn 127. Next.
    - Turn 128 comes. Lithuania beats both besieging Teuton armies that run away! I make my moves. Save turn 128. Quit.
    - I try to reload turn 128, and it works! Go back and try to reload turn 127: CTD. Reload 128 again: works. I am happy again (well, for now).

So apparently the CTD had to be related to the (second) Teuton spawn and their siege of Palanga (the Mongols have been around already, they have a homeland etc., but probably they too spawn new armies). Once the Teutons were defeated at Palanga, I could use the savegame again. Really weird.

There's a small script called "CTD fix" - it comes with my AI (as a toggleable option). It uses some of the game's twisted mechanics to shut campaign script down for the time it runs. It starts up whenever an army attacks another and keeps running until you quit the game (it needs to be enabled in SS setup).

You can use it to kill such CTDs and when you're through a turbulent period - quit the game, run SS setup and disable CTD fix and everything should be fine.

    Regards
I have no memory of this place.
