    Default Gloss?

I love this mod! Its almost perfect

i would change some of the music, and add gloss mapping, actually i just finish done gloss for all roman and spartan units, and some others...my question is, is anybody interested in this? i mean some sort of gloss pack...or nobody cares, cause ...let's be honest, RSII skins are so well made that they emulate almost to perfection the shining in metal surfices...anyway i'm talking about a very very soft gloss effect, i dont like units look like T-1000 or wearing mercury armor...a few pics at the bottom...

anyway if someones interested in helping me with this, i can ask for the right permission to the RSII team and come with a gloss pack...

Cool stuff, I'd be interested to have it if RSII team gives it approval to be released. I also did some reskinning myself, mostly on actual skin colors for roman cohorts (they were white people, but not THAT white ), toned some helmets here and there, and now I was just thinking about glosses, but I'm not really into making glosses So yes, a gloss pack would be nice I think
Coud you post a picture like: BEFORE and AFTER gloss? I'd me more obvious what are the changes.

It is a matter of preference I suppose. The quality of thr textures and the new shaders really make gloss files redundant.

indeed, preference. I usually make the desired effects directly on skin, but I'm curious what change can be made with glosses... I always wanted to try and delete a few glosses see what happens, but I'm chicken and eventually changed my mind...

Gloss files were used in RTW to do what the engine 'was' incapable of doing 'out of the box'...meaning, have reflections and 'glints' off various pieces of armor and shiny objects. By enabling glints and reflections in 'Options', you were telling the game to use these 'gloss' files. However, RS2 uses very high detailed textures that already provide considerable reflection on shiny stuff, and the newer M2TW shaders provide much better lighting for light and shadow.

I'm not saying that gloss files would make 'no' difference, because they probably would. It's just a matter of whether it's really desirable.

    Thaks, dvk, its clearer now.
Well, in this case I dont need glosses, because I never have glints and reflecions enabled in Options, so they would never affect my game. This is good, couse I'm gonna delete all the gloss files, it just takes up space.
Or you wouldnt advise me deleting?

....but that's absolutely fine if you want to make a gloss textures submod. You're welcome to do so.

@DVK - actually glints works without gloss textures and looks better than without.

Could you please explain what that means? To me it sounds contradictory so I must be reading it wrong.
