Default 2.2 Easier than before ?

    Hi Guys

Playing the Seleucids campaign with Alex, 0 trun and at H/H and I'm 45 years into the campaign and it is definietly the easiest so far - apart from fighting the Kataphract ele's. From what i can tell the AI is producing less stacks for most factions even 40-45 years into the campaign. For example Parthia usually in all previous campaigns by the 20-25 year would be attacking with 3-4 full stacks at a time with more in reserve, Pergamon usually by now would have had 5-6 full stacks in Asia minor and the same with the Ptolemys but thats simply not the case. The only AI factions that have quiet a few full stacks are Rome, Macedon (5), Boii and the Free People all the others seem to be fielding really small armies. So has something changed .. as right now 2.2 is a lot easier battlewise than the previous release ?

    Cheers

Well, it was my goal to reduce the stacks 'a bit'....but not really a lot. Although the economic settings themselves have not been touched, it could be that the new traits have had an impact on this, as they are less 'generous' in a lot of areas, and harder to get than before. The net result could well be that faction's aren't making as much money as before. We can (and will) adjust that once we start testing this a lot more. But thanks for the insight. It's good to know these things.

DVK.. If you'd like some screenshots - of the campaign and economy details for the period, I can upload those. I've not noticed much difference in the economy that seems to be on par or better than previously which is good, and the new traits and retinues seems to be working a treat. Its just strange watching Sparta capture all of Greece from Macedon or Armenia and Pntus at war with 1 or 2 unit stacks, or waiting for the hordes Parthian stacks to appear but then nothing, I'll recruit spies next time i play and see what the economy is like for certain factions.

Guys .. sorry for the delay in getting some feedback to you :

Faction armies as of 136 SE and 140SE

Ptolmeys: I've yet to go on eth offensive against them and yet the AI only has effectively 3 stacks, althoug there has been a wee war of attrition over Jerusalem but still its never been like this.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    2. Macedon - approx 5 stacks and down to just 4 terriroties at this stage, having lost all the other provinces to tiny Spartan armies:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    3. Sparta and Dacia - Spartans have had only 1 full stack and a couple of minor 1/2 stacks at the most.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    4. Cimbri - this is the sum of nearly all of their stacks.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    5. Rome: One of the few factions with 5 or more fuill stacks at this stage

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    6. Boii and Free People - Free people lots of large stack arnies, the Boii have a few too. The rebels om the other hand have tiny 1 or 2 unit armies.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    7. Gallacie and Free People

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    8. Carthage - their armies seem to be non existant even in Espana.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    9. Pergamon - again tiny armies

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    10. Armenia and Pontus - after the first few years neither factions arnies have grown. In the previous campaign Armenia was pretty formidable by this stage.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    11. Sycthia

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    12. Parthia - there are no Parthian hordes .Usually there would be at least 2-3 full stacks for one of my full stacks but not in 2.2

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Looking at those, I'd say there is only Rome, Samartian's and the Free People that are going to be tough. I could literally create 4 new full stacks and capture all of Africa asia minor and possibly finish the campaign.

I think I read somewhere that when you start a campaign, it is randomly chosen for every faction how agressive it would be in it. Don't know how true is this though ...

And what is with Rome wanting the Baltic regions

Gotta be careful with stack-judging i think sometimes....because of the larger unit sizes in RS2, it may appear to be a full stack when it may just be 7-10 240soldiers infantry units. But all in all that does look a bit more relaxed...maybe the AI actually levies when they go to war?
