4GB patch and CFF editor

Those kind of program surface from time to time claiming to resolve the end battles CTD.
While this may be true (I think it is in most cases, though there are no hard data to back this claim), those programs alter the exe, which is illegal under the TWC Tos.

I have just sent an e-mail to The Creative Assembly requesting the possibility to use this kind of program, but what should we do in the mean time? Do we leave this thread open with the link, or do we remove them?

Certainly true in my case.....I have to have the same game running for many many many hours before I get a CTD now. I would personally suggest that we leave it open for the moment and await a reply from CA. That seems to me to be a pragmatic approach.

It definietly improved the game in the previous campaign with BI.exe - I could play fo 3 hours without a single CTD. Right now with 2.2 and using ALex.exe if I play approx 1.5 hours it 'll consistently bug out with a CTD usually after the end of a battle. Memory suage at the time is as high as 3.7GB, so alex seems to be even worse when it comes to ram usage,

I'd say it'd be cool to see what CA have to say first before pulling the thread.

If you're not aware already but similar threads have already been pulled and have been so for the last six months or so. This was around the time that Bigadier Graham (?) was infracted for posting such a link.

The result is that the thread that is linked has already been pulled.

It's a TWC thing and nothing can be done about it. If CA comes back and says it's OK then it will be allowed on TWC.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with using such a 'fix' - other games manufacturers actively suggest it's use (Wargaming.Net for World of Tanks).
