Default making a unit obsolete through technology

    hi there,

so my question is, is it possible to link a unit with dbeditor to a technology and when that technology is researched the unit becomes obsolete? like janissaries become obsolete through researching european doctrine.

by the way, , although i'm reading here for years.
edit: or is it possible through building_units_allowed_tables?

The only way i think might be possible is with scripting, since there is a command were you can disable units globaly. But in the DB's i don't think there is a way.

Indirect way in db is through buildings and their relation to technology. So once the technology to get a given building level is reached if you build that facility the unit is not in the building units allowed table for that building. The problem might be that all the buildings of lower level will be recruiting the unit all the buildings are updated.

mhm found a solution that works for me, not pretty, but it works.

blocked the original janissary units via units_to_exclusive_factions_permission_tables, then made clone units and made them recruitable in the 4 first military buildings. then assigned the new units, that act as replacements for the janissaries, to the army_board, army_staff_college and the prestige buildings.

only problem is that in an unupgraded town the janissaries are still recruitable, but for the time being its the best solution i think.

so thanks for your ideas, i think i will try scripting when i found a usable tutorial or get some more info about it.
