    Default Can't get models in TGW team-

    Try contacting the guys behind the zulu and khartoum mod. They have models of helmets, rifles, and machine guns in. Maybe they can help. Sorry if this thread made anyone who is reading think I had a clue on how to get them in so sorry. Just trying to help though.

    Well thanks for the help, but we have gotten several models in Some, I believe, with the guidance of Kungfu.

    The helmets and the rifles they have gotten in through the use of ETW models. That is more of our last resort option, we prefer to use those of NTW but they are currently not convertible.

    So far we have several artillery types in. Above is a pic, there should be several others floating around in the Model thread, or old model previews.

    They really should be better organized lol. But we'll get to that

    To clarify...

    We can get new artillery and machine gun models in the game with no problem, but anything associated with the character models we cant do, so no rifles helmets or character models.

    Of course, what we can do for the uniforms is - through texturing - erase and add parts already existing in N:TW, and so construct various uniforms through some tweaking. This doesn't allow for the creation of all uniform parts, and certainly not 100% correct ones, but it will be a sufficient sollution until there is some way of converting the variant files back and forth between modelling software and N:TW.

    I think at some point you should just import them like in the Zulu mod, ETW-like.

    The problem with this is however, as Mitch said, that we lose many of the features which make variants superior to the E:TW model format. For instance - and believe it or not, this is a bigger part of the visual impression than you would originally think - facial variation would be decreased to only two or three variations whereas the variant files offer as many as the modder would like.

    If we reach the point where all other areas of the mod have advanced further than the infantry units themselves (e.g. we have ships, functional campaign map planes, completely new stratmap models etc. but no proper Broadie helmets), we might consider going down this route, but at the moment, we will stick to editing textures for as long as it is possible to do so.

    I reckon you guys'll get the uniform and helmet models in eventually.

    But then we lose one of the main features of the NTW engine, which is variant files, these allow us to make the units look overall about 10x better than the ETW units, plus you get the addition of unit randomization and whole host of other benefits.

    We're not ready to give up on this yet.
