=/ I haven't done it either, and i've already finished a Takeda Campaign
great minds think alike. the answer just posted in my thread .

In the in-game encyclopedia, or somewhere else, I read that it may periodically happen on occasion that you will be offered the option to recruit Ronin.
It's 1566, I've conquered most of Japan ( I actually already officially won , but I'm playing on for fun ) and I've never been offered Ronin.
Is this something that's coming in a later patch, or is it just rare and unusual ? Or is it just my particular luck?
Has anyone recruited Ronin or been presented with the option ?
answer ;
It does happen, though it is rare. In several campaigns I played, I was only presented with the option to hire Ronin just once.
I had the chance to hire them 2 or 3 times in one Hojo campaign.![]()
yep, katana and yari
different campaigns
Only once as the Uesegi, soon after defeating a clan that backstabbed me after the RD.
I saw now the Encyclopedia saying they can be recruited, but is this just for the Ikko-Ikki?

I've gotten em once, after finishing off a nearby clan early game Shimazu.
u can got ronin unit from ikki ikko via bribe with metsuke![]()
Maybe it has to do with the honor (or lack thereof) of the clan the ronin come from?
.
I got them once.Samurai ronin.I thought they would be more frequent
The Ikko Ikki have full stacks of Ronin archers. This doesn't seem plausible to me. I'd like to see a few that can be hired by general in the same region as per RTW.. Though fewer in number.
I've completed Date, Mori, Shimazu, Chosokabe, and Uesugi campaigns. I've never seen them and wouldn't know they exist if not for threads like this. But then again you can add this to the list of things I haven't seen yet: ai attack a gate, ai walk through an open undefended gate, ai recruit siege weapons, ai protect trade nodes, ai repair boats, ai repair any building, ai offer marriage or hostage.........
i got the opportunity to hire katana ronin in my second Chosokabe campaign... all the way in 1600.
they're rather worthless by then.
i have a question, if a ronin joins a new master, are they still called ronin?

In the Pursuit of fairness I must say this. Now that I pay attention more the ai seems to repair about 50% of it's buildings, mostly in the first half of the campaign or when I'm the saboteur. Maybe they spend every dollar they get on unit upkeep in the late game.
Also, I saw the computer attack a gate on purpose since that post. It actually turned out to be much more effective for them as I completely lost a couple of units defending it. Then again, that was once out of how many dozens of opportunities.
Tough luck about the unplayability, hope it turns out alright quickly.
As an avid ninjer spammer, I can attest to the fact that the AI repairs buildings all the time.

yes . i doubt i could win legadary without those. they rebuild... and it costs them dearly. use them to let stronger clans wage war away from you by creating weaklings behind them from your perspective. some very powerfull clans on the other side of map are very usefull in their own right. the smaller rest will hate them almost as much as they hate you. keeps you closer friends in check by being upset with their might as much as yours. ninja are great for divide and conquer..
after ream divide hit those area's conquerred by the big clans again and again and there be revolts and with you being an enemy of their enemy they often like you for first 4 - 6 turns. except for not trading the rebels are your allies for those few turns. very effective.
ninja rule.
PS : got offered ronin 1 x during 190 hours of single player. very rare. (not worth focussing on.)

Patriotism is Indeed a Double-Edged Sword
Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind . . .
And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear
and blinded with patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader, and gladly so.
How do I know? For this is what I have done. I am Caesar.
