menu browsing crash to desktop 6.4

I'm posting to say i'm having the exact same issue with my game. I have steam kingdoms and vanilla, and I play those fine, but even after 30 seconds of menu browsing in SS 6.4 (I can recreate this faster by quickly clicking around the menu.) it crashes to desktop and doesn't remember any of the setting changes I've done. I did the .cfg file edit and got a system log about 5 MB long with stuff like

You are reporting a CTD, he was reporting a full freeze In any case every report gets a new topic. Upload your full system.log (rared or ziped). What is your operation system? (WinXP, Vista, Windows 7) If using Vista or 7, did you deactive the User Account Control? What submods have you installed with said version (if any)?

honestly sounds like a faulty install...assuming you have vista/7 do what bane said with uac and reinstall ss from the beginning.
