    Default Increased marriage proposals

Hi, everybody. Modded the Britannia Kingdoms campaign to give the proper names, titles, crowns, etc. Everything works fine, except for one thing - my male family members don't get marriage proposals. Not even once. Is there a way to tweak it? Let's say, having a "suitable princess" popping up every second or third turn? What file should I approach, and what to do?
    Thank you.

P.S. I do have a lot of adoption opportunities. Plus, a few "suitable prince" proposals (not enough but better than nothing).

    Hi Henry,

The things you have done are related to descr_names.txt, EDCT and EDA files and those files doesn't affects the marriage proposals that we get for family members at random.

This is hard-coded feature of the game and it's connected to the number of regions and the number of family members. If you have more family members than the regions you govern than the expansion of your family tree stops, like no more adoptions, no marriage proposals and no kids.

For princess you can spawn her via a script in the campaign_script.txt file located inside the imperial_campaign folder.

A simple script for that would be:
    Code:
    monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType byzantium
            and I_TurnNumber = 10
    	spawn_character byzantium, Aikaterine, princess, age 20, x 281, y 125
    	console_command give_trait Aikaterine IAmPrincess 1
    	console_command give_trait Aikaterine NaturalPrincess 1
    	console_command give_trait Aikaterine GoodPrincess 1
    	console_command give_trait Aikaterine PrettyWoman 1
    	terminate_monitor
    	end_monitor
Hope that helps somewhat although such a thing is cumbersome you have to do that for every faction and set certain conditions right now in this script she will appear with custom traits in turn 10.

Thank you for answering. Couple of things - I definitely do not have more family members (or generals for that matter), it's the beginning of the campaign. It's the king, prince, princess and another under age. Then there are six more generals that aren't family members. And about 20 regions.
I do get a "candidate for adoption" almost every turn. And as I wrote before, princess gets marriage proposals as well. But not male family members, not once.
And I'm not talking about spawning on the map (thanks for the tut though).
My question - what triggers adoption and what marriage? Is there a file that can help me tweak it?
I tried to look into almost every file in data folder and couldn't find anything. The only thing that is remotely connected to the age is in desc_campaign_db.xml, but that isn't helping at all.

I see and as you know other male family members get random proposals from characters that are not princesses, it should happen as the other things are working fine.

Is it working well in vanilla game? Is the game patched upto v1.5? If not then i would suggest for a re-install as it should work and yeah there is no file with which you can offer such proposals it's a hard-coded feature mate.

As a said, adoption and marriage proposals for princess are working (adoption is working too good, to my taste). But no marriage proposals for male family members. Tried to check with all factions several times, only once the Welsh king got it. Once.

Vanilla used to work fine, not anymore. And yes, it is 1.5.

    Two questions:
    1. Could my meddling with names, building, ancillaries, etc. affect this feature somehow? This doesn't sound plausible though.

    2. If there's no way to fix it, how can I add a wife and kids to the existing member?

    1) No those files won't mess with the system as i said that's hard-coded so i doubt altering of those files in anyway would screw it up and it's not connected anyways. Maybe the names files got corrupted or something but traits and ancillaries won't mess it up, try to use the default name files and see if that fixes it otherwise reinstall the game by saving your mod folder first as you mentioned it's happening vanilla too.

    2) Yeah you can add wife, kids and stuff to an existing or starting family tree in the descr_strat.txt file.
Read this tutorial to get the hang of it.

With Geomod also you can add new characters in the tree:

Wow, thanks. I think, I figured that as well. Let's see if I'm right:
    Code:
    character_record Eleanor, female, age 35, alive, never_a_leader
    character_record Edmund, male, age 14, alive, never_a_leader
    character_record Eleanor, female, age 17, alive, never_a_leader
    and
    Code:
relative Henry, Eleanor, Edward, Beatrice, Edmund,	end
    relative Edward, Eleanor,	end
    correct?

Yep that's the one although read that tutorial before proceeding and more thing is:

So make sure you have the tabs and such another thing that i would like to point out in your post above is that never use same names for two characters like you have done for Eleanor which is right now the wife to both the king and prince although different characters but still.

    Icon1 Re: Increased marriage proposals

You need to avoid having characters with the same name in a family tree. But if you really absolutely need to have two characters with the same name, you will need to edit the ‘names’ and ‘descr_names’ files as below:

    names file:
    Code:
    {Eleanora}Eleanor
    {Eleanorb}Eleanor
    descr_names file:
    Code:
    Eleanora
    Eleanorb
    descr_strat file:
    Code:
    character_record Eleanora, female, age 35, alive, never_a_leader
    character_record Eleanorb, female, age 17, alive, never_a_leader
    character_record Edmund, male, age 14, alive, never_a_leader

relative Henry, Eleanora, Edward, Beatrice, Edmund,	end
    relative Edward, Eleanorb,	end
You also need to ensure that parents are at least 16 years older than their children. You can, in some mods, get away with a smaller age difference, if the age at which characters come of age has been changed.

I seem to remember that if you have an unmarried princess you will not get any marriage proposals for her brothers. Marry her off as soon as possible then the offers of marriage should start to appear for them.
