One day for there will be an incredibly big but incredibly awesome Total War game that is global, starts from 500bc and ends at world war 1.
That will be a good day.

I think a more realistic (and actually feasable) possibilaty is from 500 bc till 1500 ad. because warfare remains pretty much melee based all the way.

Well in the last interview they said they are gonna go after and before the shogun total war epoch... Maybe this is happening...

No thanks, I'd rather have a game focusing on Europe/Asia/America than a giant one with no depth into any of the factions.
On the strategic level hell yeah!
On the tactic level, it have the same depth as the skin of my teeth's.

And you goro very obviously, have 0 idea about world war 1.... if that's as far as creative assembly is gonna go.... then they're gonna die out... IMO.... you can only rehash rome and medival soo many time ya know.
well TW is a fairly succesful franchise and with so many times and cultures they could cover (china (multipal ages), middle east, mongols, a full game devoted to the americas, an egypt centered one, etc.) theres no real incentive to venture into the unknown and expirement, which they kind of did in empire and that was an unparalled disaster. It was a sales success yes, but it was just such a bad game until months later when it was patched, and even then....

That's why I said COMPANIES, PLATOONS. I did happen to know a lot about WW1, you know, and maybe this will surprise you but in WW1 there were squads.... I specially didn't appreciate the last sentence of your post. I have no degree in history, but I love it and read a lot about it. Especially the two world wars and Rome history....
So I suggest you to read more about it before making accusations..

then pal you got 0 idea about history if you think the only thing they can do before ww1 is medieval and rome.there are about 10-20 other things they could games from.and i know how ww1 was and a total war game is not fit for such wars.
and although ww1 is not squad based the fact that battles depended heavily on artillery and there was no big variety of troops it is sure to be a disaster.although they charged on masses they werent on tight groups.and thats how total war engine works.
Nop, but with more loose battle formations (I. E. none), a good AI and better pathfinding (yeah, that's gonna happen) you could control platoons or companies of infantry, armor and others to move along the battlefield taking on the enemies. Picture it like the movement mechanics of Company of Heroes, when you moved a squad they move along taking cover and pausing from time to time, only that this time it would not apply to single squads but whole platoons..

World War 1, didn't really break up into squads as it was.... it was much more large scale gatherings of infantry then WW2 or anything else.... WW1 was Victorian Tactics of large masses of men charging, with modern machinary.... hence the carnage.
The fact that people who are completely uneducated in history, play the total war series and are completely uneducated on history is said.
Exactly.a total war game is not fit for such wars.
