This forum is often full of requests for gmax help, or posts that regret that 3DS Max is nearly $1000. Less talked about is Blender. This seems like the perfect alternative to paying your college fund or using BitTorrent. The only problem is that it can't import or export .CAS files. It certainly has the potential to, as there are many scripts available to Imp/Exp for other games. All one would have to do is become familiar with the Python programming language.
Think about what this could mean for the modding community. If this were to happen, Autodesk won't be the one dictating who can and cannot mod. If this were to happen, we, as a community, could finally do pretty much whatever we wanted.
