    Hi everyone

    First of all things, I'm french, so I cannot express myself however I want :o.

    I just want to know how I can make every castle downgradable. Maybe you can teach me briefly how, or guide me quickly through your forum to find an adequated mod.

    I'm kind of a "script kiddie" and I modify olders games often, but CA's data base is too complicated to me.

    Again, excuse my language and thank you for your time spent to diffuse greats mods.

    Hi,

    Castle being undestructible is a staple of CA. Though I didn't look into the files, I can say with reasonable chance that is still not possible.

    Don't excuse yourself for talking/writing in another language, just keep doing it and it will eventually work out.

    Je vois là des sequelles de l'enseignement français, les fautes de grammaire ne sont pas importantes. Lorsque tu t'exprimes dans une langue étrangère, seule compte la volonté de s'exprimer et de se faire comprendre; le reste s'apprend sur le tas. Sans cette volonté de se faire comprendre, faire une fixation sur la grammaire ou le manque de vocabulaire peut entrainer de la frustation.
    Et là, le cercle infernal commence, je ne veux pas être frusté, alors je ne m'exprime, et donc, je n'apprends pas.

    In that directory :
    data>db>building_upgrades_junction_tables
    You'll find that file : "building_upgrade_junction" which show in what building a first one can evolve. In many cases, a building can "evolve" in multiple ways, for instance : ports can be nanban or not, baraquements, school etc..

    I don't know how to create my own patchX.pack and I don't find tutorial on that forum, maybe I'm not looking the right place ?

    Et à propos de l'enseignement français tu as visé très juste; et très concrètement au collège et au lycée, on voit les professeurs des langues les plus communes (anglais et espagnol) lutter pour être entendu, et une fois entendu, nous faire soit des cours de grammaire à travers des pseudo cours-non-magistraux (sous forme de débats d'opinion ridicules du genre le racisme c'est vraiment pas bien les enfants , à 16 ans). Je me souviens que le blocage vient aussi des élèves, qui sont convaincus d'être jugés par les adultes au delà de la famille : les profs. Bref, c'est pas le sujet.

    It could be possible, in theory, to create a new branch of the fort chain to downgrade it. In theory.
    I didn't linger enough in the buildings db for the moment. I'm into techs for now.

    Now, looking back at the previous games, castles were always permanent, so I don't see why CA would change.

    its a simple script but the issue it you will never do it m8, unless u have acess to the files tht are used to construct a castle on the map- in coding - sega have gone all out in stoping there game becoming good, my advice for you is say f shogun and go back to empire n mod that. shogun is a waist just like nap

    Thus, Shogun and Napoleon both must be supported by pretty decent legs, right? I mean, you wouldn't be here in this particular forum if Shogun hadn't at least attracted your attention. And that's what sexy lean legs do - bring the eyes up to the waist. Apologies for the bad analogy.

    Oh, you meant the word "waste", didn't you? Same thing, though. If you really think they are a waste of time, then stop spending time on them here and stick to the forums that are pertinent to you. Otherwise, please be more constructive. I realize it might not be my place to say this, but simply bashing on and trying to discourage someone who wants to learn how to mod something is outright disrespectful and shameful.

    On topic, and in French just to keep a maximum of clarity:

    La destruction ou régression des chateaux semble pour le moment être impossible à modder de façon directe, mais il pourrait y avoir une façon indirecte en rajoutant une deuxième "ligne d'upgrade" aux chateaux. Une autre possibilité serait peut-être de créer un nouveau bâtiment ou une nouvelle unité qui ne servirait qu'à ça, et baisser le niveau du chateau local lorsque la construction ou le recrutement de ce dummy est détecté, à travers un script (probablement directement dans campaigns/jap_shogun/scripting.lua).

    Il ne semble pas y avoir de manière plus "propre" de faire marcher ça, malheureusement.

    @Lord Zarmack : I'm sorry for your behavior

    @DaFranker : I tried make an alternative upgrade line for mid range castles (levels 2-3-4), but I don't know how to create a brand new mod .pack :/ I have read some tutorals in french, unsuccessfuly. It makes the game crash. The possibility to create a agent like "Builder" or "Peasant" seems way to hard for me, even if using an old agent in the CA database (I dig every line of it ^^)
