    Default Custom Settlements?

First let me offer my gratitude for the dedication shown by the developers of this groundbreaking mod. I am truly in awe of the amount of blood, sweat and tears poured into this labor of love. Now, onto the obvious.

I mean absolutely no disrespect in posing this question: Will there be custom settlements for the Dominion of Men as they are planned for The Third Age: Total War?

I understand these are two completely separate experiences with different ideologies behind them, but I couldn't help but be impressed with the progress being made by the TA team in this area. It may become the most recognizable difference between the two mods (engines aside). I have a vested interest in both works either way and couldn't help but continue to ponder this query, so here it is.

The FATW team seems fairly small and I don't think they have any significant modeling experience. I doubt they could (or would even want to) anytime soon. (No offense to the FATW team)

But if you are interested, the LOTR TW team already has Minas Tirith, Isengard, a form of Edoras, Helms Deep, and I think Baradur. They are also working on better versions of those cities as well as more of them. It may not be TATW but for the much lower engine, their work is great.
Things I trust more than American conservatives:

Drinks from Bill Cosby, Flint Michigan tap water, Plane rides from Al Qaeda, Anything on the menu at Chipotle, Medical procedures from Mengele

Well, I'd link to the thread a long time back, but no. No custom settlements. Now waiting for Aradan's half page post.

AFAIK, the FATW team atm is consisting only out of Eorl and Aradan. Most others that used to be around some years ago have dropped out. And no, they don't have any modeller at hand right now. And if they had, units would probably be the more important thing to do.
I would rather have a memory that is fair but unfinished than one that goes on to a grievous end.

We don't plan on creating our own custom settlements (lack of manpower). We may use others' work though.

FATW teams also includes CountMRVHS btw.

(see that was way less than half a page)

Wasn't there a lot of difficulty making the custom settlements work in LOTR TW? They were quite buggy if I imagine. Can't imagine the extra workload being worth it at this point when DoM is nearly complete, might be something to look into further down the line when everything else is finished.

Doesn't MoN do the voice over on the Dev Diaries? Isn't he a member of the team?

Edit: Is there credits anywhere for everyone inolved? (I'm probably overlooking these every time I load the game up... Been a while since I've had a chance to play though).

I think we're going to need an address for posting bottles of wine to when DoM is released in its ultimate form. Or a paypal contribution set-up. I'd happily kick in a proper thanks for the team.

That's why there's that "might" there. We want DoM to be a complete and perfect experience. We will not sacrifice quality for the sake of quantity, so will only add things to the mod that meet our standards of quality.

That said, LotRTW has made some pretty great progress custom settlement-wise.

I haven't played LOTR:TW, how well does the unit pathfinding and AI handle custom settlements?

I haven't played with the new settlements either, so I don't know, but I do know Seth (who's making them) is also testing those aspects (which, I understand, were not such a major concern for the previous version).

Pathfinding is quite good in the settlements as they are now, and with the new ones Seth is doing a lot of testing. The only problem was really that Mumakil would get stuck in gatehouses, but that's not settlement-related.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question! Either way I have confidence this will be spectacular after so much work has been poured into it. If you need help with research, writing up descriptions or anything please let me know as I would be honored to aide you in any way I can!

He retired from modding some time ago, but, from what I understand, he helps a bit from now and then.

He's being moddest, but yeah, MoN is also on the team as a consultant and also doing some stuff. That guy just won't let go. FATW is the Ring, he's Bilbo, I am Frodo, and he just won't let go of his precious.

In-game there's a Credits page under the Options menu. That's the credits for the team up to TNS.

Ooh, I like that analogy. Don't mods ever have an end....? - MoN

I was about to mention that he uses Aradan has his "vent" to speak to the public, but I see this is very obvious from the post above me

Hehe, despite my forum name (Éorl), I feel more like Treebeard for months now...
I read this so called Bible, and found it to be a third rate story in which this so called 'jesus' is nothing more than a shameless lampooning of Brian, which has inspired joy and laughter in millions.
