    Default Generals unit

    Hey guys,

I was wondering. Do generals fight on foot in the shield wall or command a cavalry unit? Or does it differ for factions?

    cant wait!!!

Differes between Cultures but not necesarrily Factions.

Check out the Faction Previews, there's one for each Culture. Look at the Unit rosters (which are only glimpses ). Best way to find out... Saves me telling you

I like that in a shield wall the general hides at the back. It means less of the Rome-esque generals dying during a charge though if charged in the back...

most stupid TW general I ever saw was a general in Empire TW.

He was chasing a fleeing army with some other cav units. The enemies were running around all over the place. To bad they placed some stakes at the start of the battle.
I lost my awesome general and lots of hussars.

I know that in some RTW mods, they avoided that by adding 1-2 captains to the bodyguard unit as well. That put the General in the 2nd or 3rd rank rather than the front. Not sure if that's a viable solution in the M2TW engine though.

the proble i've had often with generals was that those high-born idiots didn't retreat when I told them...
their whole bodyguard rides to the area I pointed them but the dumb leader stays inbetween the enemy units playing hero

having them fighting on foot is right for the time, the game plays in.

M2TW skirmishes last longer so the general getting killed almost instantly is rare unless he charges stakes. Also a man on foot doesn't die as easily as a horseman charging spears for instance.
