Context, Mr. Curator. Remember, you picked out a single line of my rant as well.

We both seem to sending walls of texts at one another only to have the other hook a single line.

    Example

Omni: By god,Thor, enough! But remember that *insert giant wall of text* and by way...

Thor: For heaven's sake Omni, stop talking passed me! *insert giant wall of text* and by the way...

Omni: *insert sarcastic facepalm* Thor, I don't have time for this, stop nitpicking! But the way *insert bigger wall of text*

Thor: *insert passive aggresiveness* Omni, I'm really not going to do this, but *giant wall of text* and by the way!

That seems to be the two of us in each of our debates, and for better or for worse...more likely for worse, we seem to be getting people riled up.

Civitate = Debater = good posts = we judge the posts
Artifex = Modder = a guy who puts out files = we judge the mods
Citizen = General Contributions = we judge their generalized contributions as a whole
Errr, I don't really care what someone applies for, I judge their contributions as a whole. If some guy applies for artifex and turns out to have a whole load of debating contribution, i'm gonna say "sure, i'll vote yes, but the guy's more of a civitate than an artifex".

Everything else, well your posts are starting to make me cringe. You should cut out the condescending "Mr. Curator" crap too.

    Okay...here is what I wrote,

Let me explain how I look at applications, especially modding applications. At the time of my patronization, TGW was in its infancy, but the big difference is that we had something people could play, and therefore something people could actually judge.

If I'm going to judge mods, I need something I can get my hands on, because I'll be damned if I'm going to take someone's word that their product is good when I'm perfectly capable of looking under the hood on my own.

For Civitate, do their posts stand out from the pack? Are they informative or witty? Were they not being Patronized, would I have taken notice of them?

That is hardly a gauntlet method of judgeing.
If that makes you cringe, Lysi, then frankly I'm just not what to say.

You should judge each candidate for citizen, Artifex and Civitate are just ways of defining oneself. They are badges that allow you to choose how you want to be defined. Citizenship is citizenship, there is no three tier system with Citizen Artifex and Civitate.

    I quote from the constitution:

Once a member becomes a Citizen, they can then choose between 3 different badges. Artifex, designed for those who are modders, Civitate, designed for those who have contributed to the debating side of the Site, whether in TW or non-TW, and Citizen, for those who associate with both.
Just because someone is going for artifex, doesn't mean that you don't judge their debating, etc.

I'm tempted to change my badge to Artifex or Civitate just to prove that the badges need nothing. (Except it would override my Moderator one.) When I applied for Citizenship, I was given all three. And yes, that was before Omni-Q's time.

Now to make this clear...There is only one rank. Citizen. You can then choose to orient yourself with a certain badge, if you wish to make it known what you associate yourself with. I chose Citizen since I did some modding, but not exactly Total War modding, and parts of my contribution were helping people in The Basement.

Ignore what it says in an application like "Civitate" or "Artifex" and just read what they bring to the table. If I was the best modder, but applied with "Civitate" in my title, would my qualifications for becoming a Citizen be nullified? In short, no.

Quite frankly Thor, you may want to put the CdeC on hold until you figure this stuff out.

Actually, I do understand this, the fact remains however that a Citizen tries to define or 'frame' his/her contributions via the badge.

Let's take a look at a recent application Ulfhednens(sp?) Application. He was applying for Civitate. His grounds for becoming a Civitate was an unreleased mod. Did I care? No. Did I even ask for Debating qualifications in that Civitate Application? No As a matter of fact, I even tongue-in-cheek refered to him as Artifex a couple of times.

What I did want was something playable from his supposed modding career.

Had I not understood this, I would have voted no based on his rather thin debating career rather than his thin modding career.

The application states he was applying for Artifex.

In fact there is nothing in the application itself relating to debate or civitate, jsut the thread title.

Both the patron's letter and the app itself stated

    My bad.

Anyway, let's put this this to rest with Bolkonsky's Proposal.

The badges are frames, and whatever a candidate brings to the table they bring to the table, that has been my debating record. If they bring mods, I judge the mods, if they bring debate, I judge their posts and their tone.
