It is, but is someone coming here to patronize three members, get a shiny, and then leaving really participation?

    Of course not.

Simply adding more names to our list of members won't keep people coming back if the current Curial system can't even keep our existing members coming back.

This is missing one key point. Say 1% of citizens are active in the curia and we have 500 citizens active on the site, this translate to 50 citizens active on the site. Even if we don't increase the percentage, which would be ideal, increasing the raw number of active citizens will also increase the number of active citizens in the curia.

So you would rather flood the Curia with Citizens in hopes of keeping that 1% participation rate as opposed to addressing the Curia's problems and increasing the participation rate?

    1. New people, new ideas.

    2. Investiture manifests predominately of it's own accord, mine did.

Definition of participation on Total War Center is "Take The Curia to the members, the members aint coming to The Curia".

I have no ideas how to accomplish it but it's either get outside the Curial box or put up with the 1% in it. Maybe oversimplified but this is what it boils down to.

If we can get them to patronize a member for a shiney, it's an accomplishment nothing else has.

    Fair enough.

........or we could drop this 'en masse' approach as I had suggested in my overhaul thread but that's a discussion for another day.

We really need to consolidate a list of all possible Curia-"fixing" ideas and pick the best one, because apparently none of the plans by itself can satisfy enough of us.

Archiving is the duty of the Curator and his assistants, but if need be I am certain that Okmin and other reformed minded fellows such as myself would be more than willing to assemble a list of all 'reform' proposals and discussions that we have had over the past few months.

    Here is the list.
The list has nothing to do with the merits of this idea - those ideas stand on their own merits - it's nothing to do with this proposal. Decision - Modding Vault is an example of something useful been done in the Curia and it doesn't even get a mention.

    I've edited my original post:
    Proposer: Omnipotent-Q
    This bill is retroactive
    Pater Medal Addition
    Medium Awards
Medium Awards are awarded for significant contribution to an area of the site. A Medium Award is defined visibly by a postbit icon greater than 30 pixels and less than 40 pixels in both dimensions.

    Pater's Civic Crown
The Civic Crown is awarded at the discretion of the Curator in consultation with members of the Consilium de Civitate. The bronze Civic Crown is given if a Citizen has successfully sponsored 4 members through the defined constitutional patronisation process or its prerequisites. Silver civic crown for 8 successful patronisations, gold civic crown for 12, the emerald civic crown for 16 patronisations, the ruby civic crown for 20 patronisations. A citizen is not eligible to receive a civic crown if their number of failed patronisation attempts exceed's 50% of the value of their successful patronisation attempts.

    I've made three changes:
    • added a constraint whereby if a citizen has a value of failed citizenships that exceeds 50% of their successful patronisations, then they cannot receive a civic crown. In reality, this means if you fail more attempts to patronise than you are successful at you won't get a cheeky civy crown.
    • added retroactive mode for extra awesomeness
    • removed top level absurd medal types

    Thoughts on this version?

Those few posts were kind of off topic So that list wasn't supposed to have anything to do with this proposal. Sorry 'bout that.

    I like it, but
A citizen is not eligible to receive a civic crown if their number of failed patronisation attempts exceed's 50% of the value of their successful patronisation attempts.
is worded a bit awkwardly. Maybe...

A citizen is not eligible to receive a civic crown if they have patronised more failed applicants than successful ones.

I like the sound of a 'Senate' for Citizens who are active in curial debates. Would encourage more people to participate in the affairs of the Curia (and hopefully, improve the site in the process).
