    Default SS 6.3 battle CTD

    Hello,
    There seem to be a recurring battle CTD in my Kievan campaign. It is turn 121, and during the AI turns, the Romans attack the Fatimids. As an ally, I am drawn into the battle. Once all armies are on the field (2 Romans, 2 Fatimids and me) the battle crashes in a few minutes.
    My suspicion was that it is a memory issue, so I went back to medium textures. There is not much I can do about the army size. It did not help.

    I have a clean 6.3, with no submods. My OS is Vista Ultimate, UAC turned off. Log attached.

    Any ideas?

    Sounds like the issue could be the reinforcements. You may have to autocalculate this one.

    Thanks, bane. I autocalculated the battle and moved on with the campaign.
    However, I'm getting all kind of flickering on the campaign map and occasional weird background colors in the battles (see below).

    I have Dell precision M6300 laptop, and an Nvidia Quadro FX 1600M card with the 270.61 driver. Can there be something inherently screwed up? (I get the infamous "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding" messages occasionally too.)

    Also, just let me know if you want me to take this over to the general MTW2 tech forum, as it may not be SS related.

    Try shutting off windowed / autoborderlessmode and try different antialiasing settings

    Ok, I did the tweaks in the .cfg, but it made no difference. I do not have AA on as it seemed too much for my rig.
    I continue the experiments and report back.


    EDIT: Apparently it was a video overload. Once I lowered the grass to medium and shadows to low the battle lagged but went on. I'll try the grass distance in the .cfg too, I read in one of the threads that 9000 is too much.
