    Default My cannons fire dummie grapeshot charges! help!

    I dont know whats happening, in the previous version, it was working correctly

    since im using 1.4.4 , when I try to shoot grapeshot charges with any cannon, instead of firing these awesome looking clouds of shrapnel, it doesnt fire anything at all so my cannons are some kind of useless, expensive fireworks, at close range...

    How I can solve this?

    Are you sure your cannons are positioned correctly and not on a bad angle on a hill?

    I have tried on multiple maps, including custom battles at the flat map, and at 0.1 speed (slow motion), its not firing anything

    Are you firing at stationary targets? I often have problems with units moving past the cannon's arc-of-fire while they're loading.

    My best successes with grapeshot have come while besieging towns and castles. Roll cannon up to breach... load grapeshot... watch your infantry calmly stroll over the corpses to take the place.

    Hitting a unit of goblins with a full blast of grapeshot is a lot of fun.

    Tried at everything. My last experiment was, 10 imperial cannons vs one single crossbowmen regiment.

    all 10 cannons were shooting at the same target for something like 3 min, while it was stationary. 0 kills. Not a single projectile animation.

    Thats the problem, in 1.3 It worked perfectly for me, now I dont know what has gone wrong?

    Same problem here. Didn't have a look at the EDU yet. Funnily enough it works fine with the Firepower mod (Dwarfen Mod of Red Dwarf). As this is changing the EDU of 1.4.4 I guess it may have something to do with that.
    This time I play only with English voices for Warhammer mod. Maybe it has something to do with that?
    Anyway, will have a look at the EDU sometimes. It is quite annoying.

    Edit:
    I had a look at the EDu and at the descr projectiles, but couldn't find any problems. I compared red dwarfs with my current.
    Then I realized that he also included an desc_area_effect.xml - this file was missing in my COW 1.4.4

    Turns out that was the problem! I copied Red Dwarfs and everything works at the moment.

    I attached it, so you can copy it in your own data folder. There shouldn't be a prompt if you want to overwrite as it is missing...

    Now my request:
    Can somebody find the original for 1.4.4? I don't have any old files left...

    It seems to solve it

    Only issue Im having now, is the proyectiles tend to disperse way too much compared to previous versions.

    This seems to be what controls grapeshot

    If you or somebody elese has an original version of this file, then that should do it.
    I only have my 1.4.4. COW version (without the xml file) and Red Dwarfs Mod on my PC. So the file I uploaded is the modded version wich is supposed to make cannons and such more powerfull. I actually like it, as grape shot is still not so effective over long range but more lethal at short range.
    If you like the orginal version, somebody should upload the orginal. I am sure people here have it somewhere.

    Edit, sent PM to Holy Pilgrim, he may have this file.

    I believe this to be the original desc_area_effect.xml from 1.44.

    No no. It's an XML file. The "descr_strat.txt" file has to do with the campaign map, not artillery ammunition.

    It works, the problem is, the dispersion is still too extreme, I cannot hit targets even at 50% of max range, and my own troops are in a big problem if I fire these

    They changed it since last version? I liked the original more, where it would shoot a more concentrated cloud of steel balls, it felt more like real grapeshot (heavy, relatively big steel balls) compared to what Im getting, which feels more like shrapnel chargues

    also, any hint on how to edit it in case I wanted to make it the old way?
