ok... there are 28 factions to chose and i dont know who to pick, i originally wanted to play Kieve but that glitched weirdly with the money for some reason, so i want to play a new campaign, i'm on early, and i don't know who to pick!!!! so i was wondering who i should play as, i am favoring the british due to i'm english and the Bysantines because i love the romans, but i dont know who to play as. so i leave it up to you memebers of the forum to decide for me. cheers.
Wil you play the game? the game of thrones.

the Romans can be fun but are super easy. if you want a massive challenge that will be tons of fun, go for Crusader states. i personally love Leon-Castile for their starting postition and all the things they can do from there, plus a cool roster. England is easy.

I enjoy catholic factions with strong missile capabilities; i.e. Italian factions and France/england. HRE and the iberians are also quite powerful later on. France has probably my favourite starting position though, and can field mostly any kind of ranged unit (scots guard with longbows, good crossbowmen (both mounted and foot) and some of the best gunpowder units).

Sicily... Normans similar to those who conquered England, but in the Mediterranean fighting saracens and going on Crusades... why not?

personally i like mixed even armies of 4 bowmen, 5 defensive infintry 5 offensive, a general, 4 cavalry and 1 juvenilia but I'm willing to play any faction. and conquer the world

Well I would actually say uninstall and reinstall with late campaign - I thought I was an early campaign man myself but dammn theres a lot more happening in later.

Anyhoo, early, I had fun with Sicily just as you can fight moors without Pope being pissed. Can get to crusade targets in the middle east easily, save the Crusader States from being overwhelmed since theirs no Mongols threatening the Turks / Khwz's, and is a good starting place. Dont expect to fill your ranks with norman knights though its a serious economic drain compared to Vanilla Total War.

Otherwise, Venice is a challenge. Fighting a strong Byzantine faction is hard work and their hv cavalry will not go down easily . Seriously, their cataphract units (or whatever their called) can be hit full charge by your general from behind and you will suffer more casualties as a result. Plus if you dont ally with hungry you'll be swamped by a Byz/Hungry tag team.

In my opinion, England is boring. I'd love to say otherwise being English and all but its not particularly fun.

I voted for Crusader Stated though. It is certainly a challenge as stated, no starting Mongols to threaten the Muslims near Iraq. You'll be quickly swamped with enemy Jihad armies and any alliances you previously had with the Muslims will shatter in no time.

Gotta say Novgorod. They're my favorite, followed by Lithuania and Kiev. Of course, the Cumans could be fun.

For the love of god dont loose Jerusalem. Unique city recruitment and all

I play a house rule for Crusader States. Not allowed to order a crusade into Holy Lands unless Jerusalem has fallen / no crusade for first 20 turns.

Play Venice/Genoa or Sicily next IMO.

    Catholics... boring... no
    Romans... done... no
    Muslims... hmmm... maybe

How about Cumans? Lithuanians? Or Rus-factions? I don't see many of those empires in the Show your empires -thread. Forget about Catholics or do a crazy migration with them atleast to the Urals, to Caucasus or to Persian gulf?

I recommend Late campaign with Khwarezmian Empire. It's a fun and tough challenge, especially against the mongols.
