Default EB crashes/ fails to respond when loading up campaign file

As of today, my PC no longer wants to play EB. I'm currently running an install validation to see if anything's missing, and will try to start a campaign with the same faction/ a different one to see if that changes things.

Basically, it loads ok, but once the loading bar has filled up it crashes, with a 'Rome is not responding' box coming up, prompting me to cancel it. Any ideas on what this is?

I'll update with the validation results when they're done.

EDIT: Validation was just done, the result was too long to actually post here, but nothing was down as 'missing.' What was there was a helluva lot of added files, which I assume are supposed to be there as they were all EB documentation/units/etc

Nothing is missing from that, so I guess it's not to do with the install?

Also, I tried starting another campaign as a different faction, again no luck. The loading bar filled up as always and then it just froze up and stopped working.

Did you change the installation in any way since the last time you successfully started a campaign? Which minimods are you using?
Start Vanilla RTW and see if the problem is there too.
Check for updates on Windows, graphic drivers.

If all fails, go for a complete reinstallation, don't forget to backup your current saves.

Haven't changed a thing to it, other than going into the config and putting into windowed mode, and that worked fine. I'll give what you say a go, see how that works.

Validation also checks changed files so please post your result anyway (use spoilers).

Well, I just started a campaign on vanilla, it went off without a hitch. Loaded up EB, it crashed as per usual.

My EB validation result is too long to post here, and the file is too large to attach as well, so I'm not sure what to do about that to be honest.

Post it here in spoilers, it can help me to understand what is wrong.

I tried, I get a message saying that it exceeds the word count. I tried splitting it into halves and it still said the same thing. I can just copy/paste X amount of words and divide it over several posts if you'd like, but my guess is it'll fill a fair few up.

    OK, nvm then.

I would now go for a reinstallation of EB. Backup your campaigns, uninstall EB from the software menu in Windows and delete left over files manually. Afterwards reinstall:
    EB 1.1
EB 1.2 (both into the same folder, plain RTW)
    fixes for 1.2

Now start EB, in most cases this helped.

The exact same thing has happened. I've gotten to Iberia as the Romans and now it won't load up my save or start a new campaign either.

    Oy vey.

Did the game crash before you now can't load a new campaign?
Are you using Vista/Win7 and installed RTW+EB into Program Files?
Is Vanilla RTW showing the same result after a restart of the OS?

Game crashes whenever a campaign or save game is loaded. It fills up the load bar and then CTD occurs.

Using Windows 7, but it's installed on an external hard drive.

    Nope, Vanilla works fine.

If possible, move the folder from the external HD to an internal one, maybe this helps.
Since you already made a new clean installation we only can guess whats wrong on your system.

Thanks. If it doesn't work it just doesn't work, I guess, and I'll just have to wait for EB II or keep trying until it works fine.

Thanks for the help man, I appreciate it.

If you manage to upload your validation results I'll maybe be able to help you.

It won't fit, it's too long (giggidy) It says that it's 1051255 characters long, which is well over the 100000 limit.

    Are they usually this long?

That only means you have additional files in your directory.
Save it as txt and attach it or upload the file at some other place and link it for me.

Ok, this should work. You may need to create an account on this website since it's the only uploading one I know of, but it really doesn't take long at all.

The file was too big for an upload to here.

Changed file: .\eb\data\ui\roman\interface\battlepage_02.tga (expected checksum 3bca234420749f5003b2671a960fa07a, got 078333e0a8aeb7547a2b8fed408cc9f2)
Changed file: .\rometw.exe (expected checksum de01375b675cbd95b7efcb745e72ead6, got 632f884ca993a430038a03d76bfa2f50)
While the second can come from using RTW Gold the first is unusual.
What minimods are you using? BI for EB?

I've got BI installed, but haven't done anything for it.

I've got Marcus Camillus' player formation and Darth mod's thing as well.

I asked this in post #2 and you said no changes to he installation were made....
Install without these mods (or check if they are 100% compatible) and see if the same thing goes wrong.
