Default do you think warhammer fans know about this mod?

apparently much to my surprise the warhammer game is actually a lot like a fantasy card game but this time played with little figurines, I have seen the prices on these figurines too and they are indeed ridiculous.

so do you think these fans know about this mod and play it?

It's probably best word doesn't spread too much. Games Workshop have a habit of shutting down anything they feel could be taking away their customers. Would be difficult for them to shut down a Russian based mod, but if they did start a lawsuit, the mod would certainly disappear from this forum.

I agree it would be best that the Warhammer fans don't know anything about this.
I think the only reason why Third Age or CoW are still around is simply because only a very small amount of people play them. i dont think more than 300 or maximum 400 people play these mods if more and more people find out about the more likely the copyrights would appear.

Well on the contrary I had no idea many people without knowledge in GW or the Warhammer lore play the mod.
I for one would not get much out of this mod without combining it with the lore.

I have never been a tabletop player (but have played) but more of an collector.
The prices are kind of steep yes, but some of the models are of extremely good quality. A lot of them are actually cast models.

I do believe that Warhammer fans should be aware of this mod, yes. But, due to the fact that the download sites for this mod are unreliable unless you pay 10 or more dollars and added to that the fact that installation isn't the most user friendly, I think that many people who wanted to play this mod are not able to play due to the large amount of technical difficulties most users face.

Who play this mod not need to be fans of the table-top game itself but being fans of the warhammer universe and lore is enough, right?

Absolutely! The Warhammer lore is amazing in its variety and a commercial money making table-top game is the wrong way to use it!

    And I sir......................Disagree
I do play a lot of the table-top, and I lose a lot BUT THATS NOT THE POINT! What I need to say is: its a great fun to play it, and I would lie if I didnt say that Im enjoying every sec. when im painting a model. Yes the Price is freaking high! but there is a lot of other things with the same value, there is in the same price class. And beside they have fail to reach out on every other market(Im only think on computer games, and only warhammer fantasy, becouse DOW is great). So table-top is best way to play with warhammer, becouse it is made that way.(we all Nod right?)
Ot: I got 3 friends who is playing warhammer, the first will only play a umodded Rome.
and the second one, I talk him out of it, to try to get it to work, until I have time to make it work on my computer.
and the last, never really asked him.

Im the Knight in Sour Armor http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...ghtInSourArmor
Rainbow Darling rainbows Darling. Darling Rainbows!!!!!
but on the same time modder with my first mod for Rome 2!http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=286218945

I might have been a bit rude there, but I still do think that GW has gone more and more to making money instead of customer service. The "fluff" they used to write just held up better than the new stuff.
Just like most games today are released unfinished, forcing the customer to fix them rather than taking the time to finish the product. Greed.

right I have never played warhammer basically because I did not want to paint them (because I knew I am not a good painter) and second because it is a game played with the roll of the dice and a lot depends on luck (and I don't like it)

but I always liked the little statues in the shops and I used to play magic (the card game where good luck counts almost nothing)

In any case COW is my favourite mod at the same level with bellum crucis

third age is also good and even now with the 1.4.4 it is more stable and a bit less bugged than cow

but cow gives me much more fun

Both are great mods but I think COW's models are way above and beyond Third age they are absolutely stunning. Not to get off topic.

I think more people playing would be great because it would mean more sub mods ect. With a larger pool of people to help with them but.........I would be very upset if this was taken down because of legal issues.

I've played Warhammer for years. Mostly back in high-school when I had the free time available. I took part in the original Storm of Chaos campaign and was part of the online community that cooked up most of those Skaven plots that ended up making it into the official campaign-story.

I doubt I would have played this mod so much despite all the crashes if I didn't know and love the setting.

I'm also surprised that non-warhammer fans are playing this.

(By the way, warhammer is nothing like card-games. It's a table-top war-game and has been around a -lot- longer than those card-things. :-p The game is actually... well, a lot like Total War battles, except turn-based and on smaller battlefields with smaller armies.)

Hey guys new to the forums here but i've been playing this game for a bit after it was suggested to me by a local Games Workshop employee and as far as i know most anyone who plays total war and warhammer are directed to it by the local staff and there seems to be no issues over it not sure bout the higher ups but a lot of other gamers do play this and definitely enjoy it, anyway thats just my local area,

ive played warhammer since it first came out. i have a very large collecton of the figures dating back to the 1980's.i have also sold collector standard painted figures to various collectors for years i knew gw when it was a small shop in london. if you are somewhat immersed in the history and legend of the warhammer world,i think you get far more from this mod than those who dont know it.since i started playing computer games, this is the one i have waited for. the work done by the team so far is fantastic, and with the various submods its getting better and better.
i dont think gw will have a go at this mod, although they have with others.

Playing warhammer tabletop game is a completely different experience from playing this mod. Little point in comparing them.

About fans knowing it, only a very small minority actually knows this mod, but i don't see the problem.
It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

I have personal experience with GW from a legal stand point and not necessarily a matter of accuracy but simply permission.

Like a lot of other companies GW doesn't like people breaching their copyright simply because they are too lazy to ask for permission. GW does harshly deal with other table top and miniature games, but so long as something like mod for a PC game asks for permission it will be granted.

It's simply a matter of being polite. Ask and they wont sue. Don't ask and they'll just send you a written complaint demanding you take down the work breaching the laws. Because frankly it's insulting to put all that effort into something and then someone else coming along and not even being polite enough to ask you to use it or reference you in any way.

I'm not stating that this mod does or does not do any of this. I don't know. In fact I enjoy playing Call of Warhammer and feel that the team behind it have done some great work to recreate the warhammer universe.

And back to the original topic, I feel that most people that play the mod have some idea about the Warhammer universe. Not all of them will play table top, but they may have formerly played, like the miniatures or even read the books. A lot of people know about warhammer, a lot about it as well not simply have heard the name. It's just not something that comes up in everyday conversation.

In my Games Workshop store, very few people play video games, most are drawn to the hobby and just sit around for hours at the store every day. Only about 2 or 3 people know of CoW out of maybe 40-50.

Most of my local wargamers now play this mod. But they were big Total War fans beforehand.
