Gaelic Units

Will there be any gaelic units in the mod? Reading tyrant it would appear that they played a great role not only in the shaping of Italy but also fought in the syracusan army and had an impact as far reaching as asia minor. I know the book is 'historical fiction' but i'd have thought that Valerio was qualified enough to know what he ws talking about regarding the major events of the era. I am not an historian, and so can't say for sure about the accuracy, but from the perspective of a potential gamer the addition of gealic units would certainly add variety and colour to the 'hoplite scene', even if just as mercenaries.

Manfredi isnt what i would call an accuracy lover. I ve read most of his titles including Tyrant and its clear that his aim is a movie scenario out of his books. Plus that the galatian invasion happened after the time period of our mod. Oh and Tyrant story is about Dionisios who bearly touches our timeframe also.

Indeed although the stories he has released are entertaining, the quality of the literature and accuracy are quite poor. Nevertheless, some gaelic mercs would still be nice, perhaps webbird would be kind enough to lend/do some for you. It would certainly be a nice touch.

under the directions of Mylai, snevets have made 3 celtic-style units which will be placed as mercs or rebel armies in the northern part of our italic part of map and maybe also in the north celtic-illyrian regions as a part of the mixed troops of illyrian-celtic style

-the gauls however didnt come down to hellenic mainland until 279 when they were hold off by a united greek force in Thermopylai and finally defeated in Delphoi by an Aitolian force

soon afterwards the macedonians and the pergamians defeated them as well and the gauls were reduced to thracian and anatolian regions

-i cant find any renders or screenshots of those 3 units right now, but i think snevets could accomodate u if u cant wait

hey nice units will they be available with to carthage (i read in a book once that the carthaginian army had a lot of gaul/numidian mercs)

and i think that hat should get a prize for most dangerous pointy hat

With Carthage I will hire everyone from the Med. sea Lybians, Numidians, Iberians, Celts, Sardenians, Corsicans, Italians, even Greeks. Have a real nice diverted army.

Mercs only- and they will start in the North of the map as the first threat for the Etruscan faction to face.

gaelic is the language (and culture?) of old ireland... gallic is basically vanilla 'gauls' but much more diverse which is what i think you meant

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was kinda confused when he said "Gaelic", I though he was asking for Irish units in an ancient Greek mod. :laughing:
